SC-550 Paradise Amber Flame old price: 209euro, new price: 248euro Harley Benton TE-80 NT Deluxe old price: 150euro, new price: 177euro Harley Benton Beatbass VS old price: 125euro, new price: 148euro Lucky I bought before the price hike, or I would have paid an extra 89euro! Looks like the old law of "supply and demand" coming into effect. About a 19% rise

Exactly, and were also probably to blame spreading the word telling the world how good the deals are. Now the price hike.

Last time they said it was due to the increase in the cost of transport etc (about 6 or 8 months ago), not sure what the reason (or excuse) is this time.

It's more to reflect the poor performance of the euro Vs Dollar & Yuan.
Fender raised the prices on their Squier range last week for the same reason.
Never pays to hesitate where HB's are concerned.

With the recent batches, I had begun to wonder if cost cutting measures had been made at the factory as the quality seems to have been more of an issue? This in turn would result in more warranty returns and costs incurred to Thomman. There no doubting the Chinese economy is slowing down with the inevitable price rises.

Just read a thing saying China is looking to lay off 5-6 million steel & coal workers next 3 years due to to over supply. Same report said European & US demand had slowed. I don't get it ? if there's less demand surely prices fall. From The Guardian "Factory output contracted in China and the UK during February while growth slowed in France, Germany, Italy and the US to indicate that businesses and consumers remain wary of committing themselves to large orders while the direction of global trade remains uncertain." www.theguardian.com/business/2016/mar/01/chinese-manufacturing-decline-sharp-global-downturn-factory-output-china-uk

The prices are the same, you are just looking at the prices with and without the VAT. The paradise flame has always been 249 eur

nejc Where do you see prices without VAT ? I always see euro price and next to it GBP £ price. Below both it says " Prices include VAT " Changed my location to Hong Kong, price said excludes VAT. You're right though about it being the VAT included prices and VAT excluded ones

nejcI must have misunderstood your post,I thought you were seeing VAT inc & VAT ex prices at the same time. Kinda like going to Builders Merchants, they give VAT ex prices in big print, hidden in tiny script is the VAT inc

That still throws me to this day, and I have been dealing with exVAT prices for many many years. I get a quote, agree to it, then when I need to pay it's 22% more expensive . Of course, as everyone says, you get it back as a business, but I still have to find the cash to pay for it!
