Nice but I'm not too bothered about 7 way switching...not for eur50+ anyway. ...but I just bought the prewired pickguard. Ebay makes it too easy! This GAS never subsides Thanks for the link to it! Just to mention; this seller sold me a PG with ceramic pickups first time so I complained and then he send me the one with alnico pups and told me to keep the first one for free. eBay is great but these things do happen (ebay aint Thomann) That said I hope you get the right one the first time! I dont feel very confident with wiring diagrams and soldering hence me wanting to get a solderless harness so I can swap pups on the fly. Its cheapest to do the harness oneself if one feel confident for such a complicated (for me) task

papache. I missed your response yesterday. Thanks for that info. How did you spot the difference? Alnico being nice and shiny vs. Ceramic being black or did you do an electrical conductivity test? I wouldn't be surprised if I get the wrong one too...we'll see.

Its very easy to see the difference; look under the pickup and if you see individual poles its Alnico, and if you see a black 1 piece magnet block its ceramic.

papache - just to let you know, my set of cheapo alnicos/strat pickguard arrived today. And luckily they are indeed alnicos. I'll be dismantling the pickguard (as a lefty it's no good to me..and also the switch looks much more lightweight than the one on the HB). I was a bit surprised to find old fashioned braided wiring on them - expecting them to be totally bargain basement. The proof will be in the tone. Probably wont get to install them until Saturday or Sunday - I've a solo in Dm to do! P.S. DC resistance is Bridge 5.6K, Middle 5.2K, Neck 5.4K ... clearly not balanced well. Neck should be the lowest.

I cant measure mine but Im sure my neck is louder than the bridge and middle which can be a bit of nerve wreck if you have to switch from neck to bridge and then you also need to volume boost the bridge to come to the same level of "loudness" Cant wait to hear the results!

Also - I managed to buy a pair of secondhand Wilkinson Alnico V WVC pups this evening for 30 euros. Will drop them into the L-400 I think. That'll be next weekend's job.

I'm tempted. Can't be worse than the ones in my Affinity strat and that's a lot of bits for your buck. Actually salteedog it's quite common to find middle and neck the same or even middle stronger than neck. Hope you like yours. What colour pickguard did you get? If it's tort does it look any good or more like Pedigree Chum? The pickguard is tort. Didn't pay much notice to it but it doesnt look great up close. I'll post a photo tomorrow.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Wow. The selector switch tip on that Chinese pickguard is bloody impossible to remove! Applying heat to it now. Update..finally removed it. It's nicely 'reliced' now after it caught fire
