Why do guitar makers always seem to use screws that you CAN'T find at any hardware store I've been to? Since the 70s there is a big DIY culture in the Netherlands. The Dutch are kind of cheap, so we have got a couple of big stores selling everything to make your own furniture and other household appliances, because 'we can make that cheaper than presold stuff'. So maybe we are spoiled over here. There are a couple of really good online guitar hardware stores. Stewmac of course, and in the Netherlands there is guitarsupplies, tonefactory, guitar-parts and customworldguitarparts. I think they all ship internationally and they have screws for guitar in every size, most of the times either in USA of Asian thread.

Thanks for all the advice, appreciated. I'll mail Thomann and take it from there, I can do everything myself but it's the cost and time factor. @bloozyfloozy, are any of the places you mention in Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Sittard or Born? That would be good.

The guitar hardware suppliers are a lot smaller and have very limited or no opening hours. You could check the postage, it shouldn't be that high to the UK. Or if you have the option, you let your order arrive at your Dutch work address? You can find the websites of the stores with your favourite search engine or by placing .nl after the names.

Well @bloozyfloozy, I'd have to say yes. I got a few replies from Thomann and they were quite adamant the I should expect faults at this price range. Said I could swap hardware out at my expense and the warranty would then be void. To be honest I don't care, it's the best guitar I've owned. So yes, happy happy. How are you finding yours my friend?

A guitar is like a woman I find; its much sweeter when you have to fight with it a bit if it were perfect I would probably get bored with it quickly.

Like I said before, we are keeping her for the tone. Even after a couple of weeks she still sounds great, so why bother about some cosmetics. And we are big time warranty voiders, so she has had an upgrade in electronics (not the pickups though!) and a setup and now she feels better than any F brand guitar I've ever owned.

Since Thomann still hasn't put up any pictures in their webshop and user comments so far seem to indicate a below than average Harley Benton quality, do you guys and galls think this run will be limited?

I can't see it being around for long @bloozyfloozy, I'm just glad I got one before they pull it off sale, if they do.

there's a review of the TE 90 FLT here, which is kinda dubious one of the plus points is finish!!!!!, yet is clearly visible that the left screws of the bridge pickup sticks way out and the right isn't seated either. the right screw on the neck pickup sticks out also and the left isn't seated either. the left rear screw on the bridge isn't seated either. the screws from the jack plate are pretty hammered.
