I have a couple of old gig bags, one of which is a Thomann gig bag, but they are really thin (and cheap). Usually I carry my bass(es) in a hard case, but as summer approches (it's already nearly 30ºC some days here), I will be taking a bass to the office with me, and then to rehearsal afterwards (if the new band works out) and I ride a motorbike to work.
So I am looking to get a gig bag for carrying the bass on my bike. I am not interested in spending 100€+ on a gig bag, no matter how good they are (I would rather add to the bass collection), so I am thinking about the 50€ mark.
What do you guys use? Any recommendations?

I've got this one: www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_premium_gigbag_e_bass_br.htm and i really like it. Sturdy, rainproof, fits either 4, 5 or 6 string basses,.. I also like the fact that it has a shoulder strap and the backpack type straps. I use mine alot on my bike and it really holds up well. The only things that sometimes bothers me is that it hangs pretty low when carried on my back, but i'm a small guy so that might be the problem aswell.

Hi vixivi, that avatar looks familiar I was looking at that bag, my only worry is that if it hags low it will be uncomfortable on my bike, as the passenger seat is higher than the pilot seat, so I am not sure how it would sit. When you are on your bike, do you use the backpack straps or the over-the-shoulder strap?

On most forums/online games i go by the name vixivi now Wardevil is an id from quite a long time ago which i dont really use anymore. I'm not sure either how it would sit, although you could have the strap(s) pretty tight and let it rest on the passenger seat? When i'm on my bike i always use the backpack straps, makes it less wiggly. When walking i prefer the shoulder strap tho.

The premium leatherette gig bag arrived this afternoon . First impressions are , A , its pretty heavy and superbly put together . B , its not 30mm off padding but more like 20mm but very cushioned and will offer excellent protection in transit . All the zipps and fittings are of high quality . C , the jazz bass is a tightish fit but fits nonetheless . D , the pockets are smallish but big enough for strings , picks , tools , tuner , cloths etc... And my Behringer BD121 fits nicely into the bottom front pocket , almost as if it were made for it . Theres packaway rucksack type straps , a long carry strap and a padded side grip handle . Overall Im thoughrougly impressed yet again by Thomanns quality . Ive so far owned a Jackson custom bag , two Fenders , one being the deluxe version and a Ritter as well as the Thomann e economy bag and this one is far better in terms of padding and overal build quality . Will it last ? Well time will tell , I cant see why not as its built like a tank . Another great buy from my favourite company now !

Thanks for sharing your impressions, I must get around to ordering one!
How high can you get it to sit on your back, do you think you could sit with it on?

Thanks derek, I am also 6ft, so we are more or less the same. The issue is that I want something I can carry on a motorbike to rehearsal, so I am looking for something that sits high on the back, or can be adjusted to do so.

Regarding photos...
I suggest using photobucket to host them and the just using the direct links here, but you can attach photos if you want, it is just that storage space is limited.
