Do you get any feedback from that hollow body? I don't own any amps so I cant tell you, I only play & record through software & use a Altec Lansing THX 2.1 surround sound system connected to the PC for sound,...which is awesome sounding for bedroom levels.

Seems you're also one of very few people on the planet who snagged the new-style TE-80 with the limited edition pickguard. Thomann pulled that one from their website after only a few days! That one was a steal, well done sir. And if I remember correctly it was darn cheap too So far Im a proud owner of only a crap HB stratocaster ST-20 (which is being upgraded and reliced at the moment and will become a beast) and a Les Paul copy HB L-450Plus which is SUPERB! Im yet to decide on what Tele to get. Thinking of buying the Harley benton Tele DIY Kit and "pimp my ride" to my specs! Yeah I'd been looking for the tiger yellow for a few weeks & all of a sudden it popped up. it was a ridiculous low price & with the €10 voucher it came to £84 with the P+P Great to hear L-450 is up to scratch, a mate of mine was looking at that model. I've looked at those DIY kits but couldn't find a 12 string kit, I got rid of a 12 string acoustic a few years ago & regretted it, I'm thinking of getting their 12 string RIC copy before that disappears too.

Personally, I prefer to get a finished instrument for the same price as the kit, and then take it apart and mod/refin etc. It involves more work (sanding), but at least you can spot any flaws in the finished instrument before you put all the work into it, and you can return it if you don't wan't to deal with whatever issues it may have.

JAC, yes I thought so too until I realized that my ST-20 strat had a laminate between the paint and body wood I wanted only to sand the endges a bit, you know a simple relic kind of sanding but when the ugly brown laminate showed up it just didnt look nice at all. SO I had do find out what else to do; either paint the whole body or scrape off all the laminate. I wanted to see the wood so I took off the laminate which was VERY DIRTY work indeed. Another thing I realized after the laminate was gone is that my bridge was suddenly much lower because the laminate was gone so had to find a way to lift it up for 4 mm. Also the neck was suddenly much higher above the body but I have no tools to fix that hence me wanting to get humbuckers for this strat to lift them up towards the now much higher strings. Humbuckers look better than single coils when lifted in my opinion. I am buying the loaded pickguard from Dragonfire next month so we will see how that looks. This is the reason for me going from now on with a KIT style body.

I get you che. The laminates, however, should only be on instruments with transparent finishes, like sunburst etc. It is to make the finished product look like they used more expensive wood. If you purchase a solid colour, you shouldn't have this issue.

Well I've had a full day home alone (heaven) with these two HB guitars & they absolutely sing, they're so crisp & resonant I think I'll be having another cull of my guitars to fill me boots again with some more HB models.

Hi Doofus.
I'm new here. That's a lovely looking guitar. Congratulations on a fine purchase. My bother-in-law has ordered that exact model. They are due in again at Thomann's on the 14th of this month. I may just order one. I love the sound of P90's, and I have always loved Tele's.
I really liked the Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac style video too. That sounded very nice.
I have ordered the blue TE-90QM with twin humbuckers. I just got notified that it shipped today, but it takes around three weeks to get stuff from Thomann's to New Zealand. Sometimes I have got stuff quicker, but it's usually around that long. I have found Thomann's to be very good to deal with. I have never had anything damaged in transit. They package stuff very well. I've bought several guitars from them over the years, as well as amps, pedals, strings, etc.
I'm a bit keen to order the TE-40 as well. I've got a serious GAS issue at present (help) So many nice HB's to get . . .

Hi marit to be honest when I came to this forum I too didn't know what GAS is, and I am being totally honest here I actually saw it in JAC's signature and was not sure what that was so I had to google it (Im serious). GAS is as oghkhood just mentioned above Gear Acquisition Syndrome, you know that feeling you get when looking at guitars online or in a shop and your hand goes automatically into your pocket to get the credit card out Thats a typical sign of GASing (angel) There is no location in your profile but Marit could either be a Danish or a Norwegian name if Im not mistaken Im in Denmark (south of Copenhagen)

In that case I'm definitely GAS'ing right now. Ha it is a Norwegian name, I believe a princess' name there was Marit and my dad took the idea from someone in either Sweden or Norway because there was a girl named Marit. BUT, I'm from Holland! Just remembered I've been on holidays in Sweden (it was quite boring but there was an amazing swimming pool by the park we were staying at), and I believe we went over to Norway for one night and met the girl named Marit!

Damn how did I miss this guitar on the site when I was shopping. Probably a good thing though because then I would have 2 guitars on the way and less money. I hope they keep this model around a while, I'd definitely like to pick one up. Semi hollow and p90's with tele twang so much win there.
