This review/demo is basically saying that the JOYO Dyna Comp is a slightly compressed booster and not worth to use as a compressor. I ordered this pedal with my new Bugera V5 amp just to reach the free shipping price. I need a compressor pedal but if its that subtle why would I keep it? What do you guys and gals think of it? Do you have this HB Dyna Comp? blablas has one I think.

You're right, I've got one. The HB/Joyo compressor is a subtle effect to level differences in attack and volume and doesn't destroy the basic sound coming from the pickups and strings, I really like it. When looking at his video I get the impression he is looking for a brute force extreme difference compressor. For a short period of time I also had a Electro Harmonics Blackfinger and that one behaved and sounded roughly like the this one. I've also got a Boss BC-1X, this Boss is a lot more versatile (and is specifically designed for use with bass) but it's also seriously more expansive. For it's price, in my opinion, the HB/Joyo is unbeatable, sure, there a better ones on the market but these will all set you back a lot more money. Wait until it arrives, toy around with it and form your own opinion.... And keep us posted how you like it.

Now that I think Im more of a need of a sustainer rather than compressor as such so this pedal might just be what I need. I have already a fine boost on me NUX Drive Core (either a drive or a boost or both). I guess we will find out soon.

The HB Dyna Comp arrived today, still to plug it in so stay tuned. The quality of the box, knobs and switch seems very fine indeed. I like the slight resistance when turning the knobs and the clicking sound of the switch is not that loud. Now its just to hear what it does to the sound. take a screenshot

First impression; This is either a VERY subtle pedal or I simply cant hear much difference It seems as it kind of gives the tone a bit (just a bit) of Hi-fi sound, it kind of rounds it up (but just slightly so). Not sure if I need this pedal because I dont get any extra sustain with it and no compression either. Am I missing somerthing. Yes the pedal is responding and works fine. Ah just to mention, a very quiet pedal, no noise whatsoever.

I ordered that pedal too. The compression works but mainly in the lower region, meaning on the lower strings. It acts like a lowpass filter. It gives a nice sound to your clean sound. It doesn't if you are using overdrive.

Oh man this is the info I needed! Thanks a bunch! I'm yet to use this pedal infront of my solid state and see if it's less subtle

I came to realize that I could easily play sloppy via my Digitech RP70 processor which back then was cool to give me confidence like "damn I can play great" so I kept playing every day.
Now I think it's great to have a fine clean tube amp which shows all imperfections in my playing. Came to me at the right time of my sonic journey.
