So here are a couple of videos of my smashing new VOX... and the cords ... Well I love it. Not sure if I've found my sweet sound just yet... but it's sooooo much easier than the Fender Mustang I had before. Thanks

I'm glad you like it! That camera mike seems a bit thin, so sure it sounds much bassier in your room.

Nothing to worry about. My first few vids were similar in quality. If you get a cheap audio interface and a cheap mike you could get a better sound quality. I will try to record my new Bugera V5 amp that way, as soon I get some free time. The importance is you love that box, which will keep you motivated to play often. That is what counts. Recording is another topic entirely

Recording is another topic entirely now you've lost me ... wouldn't have clue what to look for... I am thinking it would be great to get some software which would play backings to some tracks .... All a bit of a fog to me I'm afraid.....

Hi tich65a . In order to record onto a computer you need some sort of audio interface (as papache said). In other words a way for the sound to get into the computer. Yes there are some holes on the side of your computer for headphones and a microphone but the microphone one is absolutely awful. Anything recorded via it will sound like monkeys playing in a tunnel. The solution to this is an AUDIO INTERFACE. Some kind of little gizmo that plugs into any USB slot on the side of your computer and into which you can plug a microphone or an instrument. This for example: USB audio interfaceNo idea what that one is like. Probably bad but you get the gist. Now, computers being computers, that's not the end of the story. Your computer also needs some kind of software to record that guitar into. Many of these are available free and sit around long enough and somebody on this forum will recommend a simple one. Now, software being software, this won't be simple to understand either because the software is written by the monkeys who play down that tunnel that I mentioned. Their sole purpose in life is to have fun and annoy you...and they will succeed. But, if you've ever brought up children, you'll know that it is possible to sometimes win and, with a little persistence, you may be able to understand how you get the software to find the USB interface that I previously illustrated. From then on it's up to you to actually record something and you will need tenacity to achieve this because a computer doesn't want to be a tape recorder. It wants to rule your life and dominate the developed world. Don't let it. You have the advantage of living longer than it will, particularly if you have a few failed recording sessions. But one day as the fog of desperation lifts you will look back at that little interface and say to yourself, "Perhaps I COULD have grown to understand that Mustang amp after all". We'll try to help you get there but here's a little tip. Don't attempt anything within earshot of sensitive ears that may be offended by the expletives that you utter nor within hearing distance of the person in charge of the swear box. They will empty your pockets. Now I'm getting back to building a website. God help me.

wow DefJef many thanks for discussion, me tinks you have an on-going love affair with computers For now I think I would like to get hold of some software with would a) play backing tracks without the guitar of course and b) allow me to slow the tempo down until I've got it right ....mmm might take a while that one .... but like I said... not a clue where to look. tried Google but it's all a mist to me ...

The ultimate guitar tabs app I have on my smartphone has a feature that allows song playback to be slowed down. Seems to be for certain tabs only. Handy enough though. I've been using it to learn 'Oh Well'.

tich65a If you do decide to get behind the sofa you may be as lucky as me and find a favourite long-lost plectrum.
