I now have separated the bobbins and removed the magnets, the wire was a write off so when I have the disposable income I will buy some plain enamel AWG42 gauge. I'm going to have to make a 1/8" piece of wood or plastic or something.
I'm going to use a Dremel to wind it when I get to that point.
I used to lust after a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. Which is about £80, the spool of wire is about £70.
I'm going to put the "Jazzmaster" pickup in the neck of my HB-MS60 and try to make a Telecaster style pickup for the bridge.
I'll take some pictures when I have something to show.

Well, the first site I found for the wire were clearly rip off merchants. Just used www.wires.co.uk and it was about £16 or so after VAT and delivery charges. Time to pester my friend for his Dremel.

Ok, I have all the bits I need now. Disaster! The Dremel doesn't go slow enough, I'm doing it by hand Got a small screwdriver in the middle and I'm turning an Allen key, this blows. That's about an hour and a half of tedium

I just realised I could take another magnet out to make it easier for me.
This might be the first and last pickup I ever make!

Hmmm...would love to give this a go myself. And your set-up looks identical to what I would put together. I think I have those same screwdrivers and 3rd hand magnifier thingy.... I also have a similar tablecloth, placemats and xbox controller (whats that for??) Would a fishing reel be the basis for a solution perhaps?

Or a hand held beater? You know...for cake mixes and stuff.

I was thinking of buying a hand drill so I could turn it at a constant speed.
My PC is setup near all the gubbins, the controller is misbehaving.

Disaster struck. When I replaced the two magnets I took out I sheared the wire.
I have a cunning plan though... pics when I've built it.
