Teles are pure rock machines. Love them. My favorite model is the 72' deluxe. But I'd be more than any using that tele for that yummy baritone sound.

Im staying away from single coil guitars knowing that I will swap them single coils for humbuckers in single coil size. So why not just stay with humbucker guitars in the first place (telling to myself). For some reason I just cant stand that twang and trebleness of single coils for some reason, when I play that is but I dont mind listening to lets say Hendrix ripping it on single coils EDIT; when I had my strat I always played on the 2nd and 4th switch position and one day I realized its time for me to humbucker-up and leave those single coils behind

A while ago I hated teles. "Ugliest guitars" I thought. But during the time I learned to love them and couple of weeks ago I finished my first partscaster, "bastard" with single coil in the bridge , then filtertron and p90 in the neck. It sounds pleasantly different from anything else I have. It still needs some tweaking, but I'm satisfied with result.

Nice Is that partcaster made from the HB tele kit? No, it's pure partscaster - every part from different source, mostly from ebay. It was OK as learning project, but not OK financially or quality wise. If someone wants just modded guitar, buy HB and mod it. Cheaper and with constant quality.

I agree best is to buy a guitar with already the right color so just modding the pups and other hardware.
