Disclosures: Everything I don't like I can modify.

Bought me a Line 6 Relay G10 last weekend. Nice toy, no more tripping over cables and a certain feeling of freedom. There are/were however also some (known) issues with this wireless system combined with active basses. I needed to reverse the battery ground and ground on three basses to get any sound on my amp from them and I've still got three other basses that give a high pitched squalling sound when plugged in. Still puzzling on these last three, it's not the brand or type (2-band and 3-band), I've got the same type of preamps working properly and with this noise! More info when I've solved this issue or given up. The bass and preamps that are giving me this headache are my Spector Legend and two of my DIY projects with 2 and 3 band Glockenklang preamps.

For my Ibanez SR range basses I needed to make a couple of 6 millimeter thick spacer rings to let the jack stick out further in the angled jack hole. Standard the wireless does not get deep enough inside this jack hole to make proper contact with the jack (this is also a known issue).

Correction: The DIY basses both have a 3-band glockenklang onboard, I thought at first one was a 2-band. These are the only basses I've got with this type of preamp. Conclusion for now might be the preamps are just not compatible with the G10. Same goes for the one in the Spector, I've found indications I'm not the only one with this problem with this model Spector and a G10.
I think I'm going to try a EMG BQC System on the Spector, this is a 3-band with parametric mids. If it works it might be a nice upgrade for it. Havent got a plan yet for the other two, for now I can live with the fact they work in passive mode only.

At least it's not like you don't have a selection of options to choose from It's strange that it won't work with that particular preamp. Do you notice any difference with those pre's when you plug into anywhere else? TBH, I have only ever used Shure systems.

No difference. Did some testing based on advise given to me on a Dutch bass forum with some resistors and capacitors here and there, still not working properly. For the Spector I've given up and ordered a EMG BTS System for this one. If it works without any bonus noise it stays If it doesn't it goes back.

And with the new EMG preamp the Spector is working properly again.

It's strange that a specific preamp wouldn't work with the wireless. Maybe it is a signal impedance issue? Are the readouts from these preamps very different to the others (such as the EMG)?

Most preamps on my 30+ active basses work without a hitch, a couple needed the battery ground and common ground exchanged, the only ones I experienced persisting problems with that can't be simply solved are the Spector Tone Pump and 3-band Glockenklang's. Let's call it a design feature with those. I still want to contact Glockenklang to find out if they are familiar with this issue with the Line6 G10.
