I have had this a few weeks, but since I am new to this board, I decided to post my review here.
The Custom Line ResoKing disappeared from Thomann for a couple of weeks, but it is back now, however, it is out of stock, but at least it is coming back.
So what is it? It is without a doubt the most unique guitar I have ever owned or played. It is a solid body resonator guitar, with a mini-humbucking pickup in the neck position, and a piezo pickup in the resonator. Instead of a switch to choose your pickup for output, it has a blend potentiometer to allow you to get just the amount of each pickup for the sound you want.
The guitar was shipped double boxed, and very well packed. It still surprises me that a guitar all the way from Germany gets here with no damage.
I was originally concerned about intonation, but it is as close to spot on as can be. The action is really good, and the guitar is easy to play. The only strange thing is I have to get used to resting my hand on top the the bridge cover. Where I normally lay my hand while playing is on the resonator on this guitar, and it dampens the sound some.
The humbucker pickup is HOT. I have to turn down the input when playing with just that pickup. The piezo pickup makes it sound like it does un-amplified.
The guitar is light. Sorry, I don't have a scale to weigh it exactly, but it's about the same weight as my SX Leo strat. The neck is a little thinner than I am used to, so my sound sample is a little rough. Bear with me while I get used to it. I am not a pro either, and at my age, a little arthritis is kicking in too.
Frets are awesome. Clean edges, nicely polished. Very good shape. Fretboard is clean, no gouges or bad spots.
Neck is a nice gloss, no rough spots. Very fast to play. Neck joint is clean, almost can't tell the neck is glued on.
Guitar was listed on Thomann site as having 10's. No way these are 10's. They are at least 11's, probably 12's. But I was surprised to see that it had wound 3rd string. But I changed them once I checked to make sure all the electronics worked to D'Addario 11's with a wound 3rd.
So, here is a little clip of the sound to wet your whistle. The first finger picking is raw from guitar to GarageBand, with Brit Clean amplifier setting. The second is a clip of a song I have been working on with Reverb and Phaser setting on my pedal. It also has a blend of both the mini-humbucker and piezo pickup.

Now, for the pictures:
This was the only imperfection I could find on the whole guitar. It is very minimal, and you can only see it if you are looking real close. Not enough of an issue to make me want to send it back. Ignore the white specks. Those are small particles of styrofoam from the packing. That stuff sticks to everything.
