Yes, the new pickups in CST-24 seem to be pretty bad. They are Roswell PAF type humbuckers, quite a bit lower output than Wilkinsons, quite different EQ. Hope the SC-550's do well... Or I will never buy a HB again

Or I will never buy a HB again I personally ONLY wish to get a playable HB guitar (nothing deformed, good neck and fretboard, all assembled correctly). Pickups are the easiest thing to swap.

Pickups are the easiest thing to swap. I know, I know, but I liked the 550's Wilkinson and I didn't want to spend money on this guitar atm. Anyway, I'm curious about these Roswell...

Thank you for your reactions, guys. I wrote an email to my customer service representative at Thomann asking what can be done about the pickup change, since I have bought the guitar with Wilkinsons originally and now I am somewhat being misled by this change

Thank you for your reactions, guys. I wrote an email to my customer service representative at Thomann asking what can be done about the pickup change, since I have bought the guitar with Wilkinsons originally and now I am somewhat being misled by this change I was thinking about the same but then I realized that the only thing they could do was sending me a B-Stock, so I rather keep the Roswell even if I don't really like them -haven't tried atm- and invest some euros in a good Tonerider set. I'll recieved the 550 by Friday and I'll post my conclusions.

Well.. the reply I got was no good. The rep claimed that they do not have any CST-24 2017 models and neither B-quality models on stock. Which is kinda curious because as he admitted they got the 2018 model only in the middle of February.
Since he was unwilling to remedy the situation in any way (apart from me sending the guitar back for money back) I requested a partial refund, to buy the Wilkinsons myself. Will see how it goes. His no-can-do attitude riled me up some good and I will go through the EU customer protection centre if needed.

I understand your disappointment, shalafi111. Hope they will agree to refund you the price of the Wilkinsons. About this problem of pickups, which implies several models of HB guitars, I can undertand that HB has had problems with Wilkinson and doesn't want to work with them any more. But I don't understand why they haven't warned their customers ! Why did they not leave a comment on the pages of the implied products to say something like "on this model, pickups are going to change. We replace Wilkinson #reference by Roswell #Reference." ? For you, Shalafi111, I really believe the best and maybe the only solutions consists in the refunding you've been asking for. And I also understand why the guy who replied you at Thomann's customer service could not do anything for you. I'm pretty sure they don't have any other instruction but to recommend the customer to send the guitars back. Hope it will soon be solved the right way for you

I agree that it sucks if specs change - yet the internet pages are no official confirmation you will get that exact specification but more an offer to buy a guitar with these basic specs. This is how lawyers think at least - laymen like us understand this differently. All shops I know of have something similar in their terms of service.
That´s what the return policy is for.
Only if they have written on the invoice that the guitar should have Wilkinsons they need to fulfil that. What was included in your invoice from Thomann?

Here are the terms in english: www.thomann.de/gb/compinfo_terms.htmlThe relevant section is here in §1: "The product display in the online store does not constitute a legally binding offer; instead it is merely a non-binding online catalogue of the range of products available. By clicking ‘Buy’, the customer makes a legally binding commitment to purchase the goods in the shopping basket. The customer shall receive an order confirmation immediately after the order has been submitted. The sales contract shall only enter into effect upon receipt of our separate order confirmation. The contract is stored, and the order data and General Terms and Conditions are sent to the customer by email. Customers can view all of their previous orders by logging into the customer service pages of the website."

They might as well sell you a cauliflower then. Come to think of it I did get a cauliflower in my online Tesco order in substitute for bacon. Perhaps they knew I always have bacon with cauliflower cheese and were trying to be helpful. That's a great combo and how I usually have it too.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Their sweet ambrosia ruined.

Thanks for the input and cauliflower tip guys I got in touch with another customer care representative - Ms. Jaeger. She was wonderful and we agreed that I will be partially refunded so I can buy the Wilkinson pups myself. First, they wanted me to send the guitar back and replaced with a b-stock with old pickups, I was not too keen on that and asked about the refund and she agreed that it is a better option, also the refund will be send to my bank account. So it's a win Soo now.. does somebody have wiring diagram for Wilkinsons?
