Hi all,
I'm new here! I signed up because of my interest in modifying a Harley Benton Telecaster guitar.
I have a question concerning this: what is the overall quality of the woodwork & fretjob on the cheapest HB tele (the TE-20) on the 2015 models. I will immediately replace the bridge, tuners and pickups... is it worth the effort and cost? I sometimes read very positive reviews, yet sometimes very negative ones appear as well.
Also, what is the quality of the wiring, switch and potentiometers? I can change these as well, but would prefer to do this later on.
Thus, the main question is: is the Harley Benton TE-20 a good base for modding?
Thanks for your input!
Cheers!

yes the guitars are a good base for modding. I did that myself and was very satisfied. the Fretwork should...and i will repeat that...SHOULD be very good. on 90 % percent of my HBs it was a very good fretjob. the electrics will work and can be upgraded with caps and resistors. there is no need for a change in any HB i had.
again...its a very good base. If they send you total crap (can always happen). send i t back and get a good one.

I was curious about these lower priced Tele's as well. On my SC-450 LP copy, the frets were surprisingly good. I've had instruments costing 5X as much with far worse fret leveling and dressing. My gold top is 40% of the way to my door and if those frets are nearly as good, I'll be looking for another HB soon as well.
