I have noticed that Thomann had started changing Gibson shapes probably because Gibson told them to not mess with their designs. The 335 looks kind of strange for me. Even the SC don't look as good as when they looked as Gibson copies must say. Maybe its just the over-saturated photo quality on Thomann that makes me think like that. Now that I look at my old L-450+ and the new SC-550 I kind of start to like my old 450 more because it is not available any more in the Gibson format. Do you think people might stop buying HB guitars because they have moved away from Gibson shapes? I think they will see a slight drop because many bought them because they could not afford the real deal. www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hb_35_vb_vintage_series.htm

For me I was always going to buy the 450 Gold Top P90 at some point, now because of the new shape I'm not so sure. I do like the shape on the SC-550, it looks a little more modern anyway and I think it works, but the 450s are the "Vintage and Classic Series" and i guess I would have preferred them with the classic shape, especially on the Gold Top where the P90s fit better with the my old school shape in my opinion. It's likely as you say that they had no choice, still I'm glad my 450+ is the Gibson shape I hope the FV-430 doesn't change, this one is also on my "to buy one day" list.
