I set myself the challenge this morning of trying to turn my Te 52s finish into something like this. Took me about four hours

Started with the neck. The finish is so fine that with only a few rubs of wire wool the back was going bare. It's certainly not poly ! Onto the fretboard a gentle rub of light sandpaper and it was lifting ,I still have to do a little more with a scalpel tomorrow

I don't understand relicing, not something I would do to a guitar. I polish and clean mine, I just don't get wanting a relatively new guitar to look 40 years old. Each to their own I suppose.

Sorry Guys I'm having problems loading the photos I don't understand relicing, not something I would do to a guitar. I polish and clean mine, I just don't get wanting a relatively new guitar to look 40 years old. Each to their own I suppose. I not a big fan of new shiny guitars , I would nearly always pick up a worn guitar over a new one in a guitar shop . I played one of the Roadworn Teles recently and loved the feel of the neck , that's what got me to do this project Ill try those photos again !

The back of the neck is the only part worth doing imo.
Never had a neck as smooth as my roadworn ‘72 deluxe was.
I really should do that to my guitar necks...

Got them going now.
I know its not to everybody's taste but I think if theres one guitar to relic it has to be a telecaster The neck feels great now as I also rolled the edges of the board,I feel as if i bonded with it a little more today. I dont know if it would feel the same .

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

It kind of ties in with my Art or artifice post earlier in the Inspirations section. It is odd that the rock world, especially journos, seem to be obsessed with truth and honesty in music, little realising how much fakery needs to be employed to achieve it. "Sing in your own voice." they say. "But make sure it sounds working class." Class still stands strong and proud in the UK in 2018. If faking it helps you get to your truth wildturkey then you MUST do it. Music is a feel and it must feel right not be right.

Fair play as I said each to their own, I'm not knocking it everyone has their individual fashion none right or wrong.

Why don't you MartinB? I bet it sounded epic. I sold it during a wobbly period.
