Hey everyone, I started playing guitar a year ago. The first one I bought was a Harley Benton 450 classic. A Les Paul style guitar. I love the looks but hate to play it. Is this something I have to get used too? Cause now my eyes are drawn to something else a te-20 or te-30. Which I want to mod the hell out. But isn't my money beter spend on modding the guitar I already have a practice more on it so I get used to the thick neck? Although I dislike playing it that doesn't stop me from practice and I keep playing it. Is this part of the learning curve or is it time to change gear? Thanks in advance and sorry moderators if this is in the wrong part of the site

Yes! Time to change gear You HAVE to LOVE your guitar to be able to play it often. I can not pass my ST-62MN without picking it up for at least 5 minutes (several times a day)! If the neck feels thick - try another guitar If the sound of those humbuckers are too gainy - try a single coil guitar If the guitar is gorgeous but you hate playing it - hang that one on the wall and get another guitar for playing Get a guitar you feel looks sexy and hen try it, if you think its perfect THEN you mod the heck out of it because that one will be a keeper

If you don't like thick necks you won't like the TE-30, it has a really THICK neck, C wonderful shape which I really love.

TE-52 also has a very thick neck! salteedog knows more about the TE-20 which should be more of a modern C shape I would guess. My TE-70BP has more of a Strat thickness which I prefer. Make sure to ask questions before buying!

It might be useful for me to say I mostly play blues, country or in dadgad.

TE-20 has a C-shape neck. It's not thick but not as thin as the shreddy Ibanez type guitars either. Note the frets are smaller that on most of the other guitars. I like it and its super affordable so a good mod platform if that's your thing.

At risk of boring the heck out this forum I will just repeat my 25 years of not bonding with an LP, nearly giving up on electrics till I bought a single coil Pacifica and now love playing that and my teles. It all depends on the style that you want to play (and hear) and for me single soils do things that humbuckers just don't (and I don't mean hum!). Oh not again we have heard that story 100 times (I think Im missing one Zero)

Thanks for all the advice given. Do any of you recommend a model? I like semi hollow and hollow bodies as well. Looking for a nice neck thin and great for blues

Maybe the HB35 or HB35 plus then? A lot like an Epiphone Dot but a lot cheaper
