Hi guys couple of months ago, I bought the HB SC Custom. First off, I was surprised that the pups were Roswell, instead of Wilkinson as written in Thomann's description. Then I started playing with this guitar and started loving it. You can ask her everything. Metal, big rock, pop, blues and, with appropriate strings, probably jazz. I guess that last point cos' I don't play jazz. I've already posted several demos of this guitar, especially with rock and metal tracks. So now here's a brave new instrumental song, a soft bluesy one. It's not a test song as I usually do, with flat EQ and this kind of neutral settings. No this one is played with my settings, post EQ and so on. But hey, I'm not a sound ingeneer and if you like that sound, I'm sure you can have the same - and even better - at home Btw, @defjed @chedapapa and salteedog you may like this one https%3A//soundcloud.com/user-492302877/soft-blues-hb-sc-custom

The custom line are the best HB´s in my opinion, i have the DC-Custom and love it! How much does the SC-Custom weigh?

Might be just the settings in the recordings? The Wilkinson vs. Roswell pickups are the only thing still holding me up from getting a second DC-Custom, since according to Thomann´s guitar departments answer to my email, they do not have any stock with Wilkinson´s, not even "C-stock" They finally have some new DC-Custom stock, but not really sure about the Roswells, since all the demos i´v heard, did not impress me. Pity since i would love to support HB guitars (awesome instruments for little money) , but if the pups are not of my liking, i guess i´ll have to move to Vintage guitars and get a VS6...

Hi Spacelord, the differences you hear in the sound cannot come from the EQ : it was the same for both guitars on my comparison tracks. As far as the blues track is concerned, it's very different. These are my own settings, and due to the bluesy ambiance I wanted, I have pushed the basses up and even rose the tone down sometimes. Now, as you know, everything cannot be heard in a recording, however good or bad it may be. The Wilkinson are a bit clearer, that's right. Yet, you have to know that on a split mode, the Roswell become very clear and singing. I'm not using this function that much, but I can try and record something just for the demo. I don't find the Wilkinson warmer than the roswell, though. But that's probably a matter of taste. I can just tell you that the Roswell are much warmer than some DiMarzio Tone Zone and PAF Pro I have on antoher guitar. About the Vintage VS6, I can't give you any pros or cons, I never played it. Yet, if I just compare the prices of both VS6 and the HB DC Custom, first thing I see is the price difference. More than 100€. Wilkinson pups are around 70€. So, if you can solder the yourself, Maybe you can go to the HB and buy the Wilkinson. Plus you can try the Roswell pups yourself, and if really the guitar does not suit you, you just send it back and get refunded

Warmer usually sounds good on its own and those DiMarzio are very likley meant for gigging musicians where warm is considered simply muddy. One needs less bottom end and more mids and treble when in a band situation to cut through. I have very little experience in jamming with others but I can tell you my Low EQ went down and trebble + bridge pickup up to get over the drums, bass and the That said , I loved my passed Wilkinsons but I would only ever used them playing on my own or for our Bentonite recordings (in a recording you can play with the EQ until you get all the instruments leveled, live is a different story). Im not a bridge pickup player but in a band situation its sweet to have it

I guess i´ll just have to either settle with my 2x HB´s and 1x PRS (SE), or just order a second DC-Custom and deal with the return hassle if the guitar does not sound right!
