Any reason to buy one over the other? Am probably going to go for a version with pickup. The reason I ask is the 28 is substantially cheaper, especially converting to Canadian dollars, over $100 cheaper. Already have a CLD-15 (mahogany) non-electric on the way. That with a 28 or 41 should adequately scratch my acoustic itch.

From what I can see is cutaway vs no cutaway and more bling. I'd really like HB to make a CLD28 with no cutaway and a pickup which would resemble the Martin D28 although I do love my CLD41se

I hear ya on "no cutaway". I've had plenty of both kinds and rarely have felt the need to do so much lead or chord notes up on the 18th fret to think a cutaway would make it easier to play up there. Also, I'd almost think a cutaway has less boom in it, since part of the box is cut out, except I've heard some high end cutaways that simply sound outstanding, so I don't think we can make that conclusion. That's probably why I'm leaning slightly for the D-28, for the moment anyway.

a lot of dreadnoughts have too much boom for me anyway. Maybe this would balance it up a bit. Not my CLD-41S with Walnut back and sides No more Mahogani for me thank you very much!

Most Dreads I played were boomy within their bodies no matter what room I played it in. This is the first (well, second as the first was the Yamaha LL16) one that within itself has no such boominess and thumpness but rather clear, slightly compressed tone and when hit hard even a slight OD growl is present with buckets of projection. Fascinating instrument this CLD41 is! One has to play it to believe it, as with anyhting in life, first hand experience is King!

Hate to say I told you so @chedapapa. Heard someone describe the sound as 'throaty'. These guitars sound like high end instruments that cost a couple of grand - no exaggerating.

You should have seen me playing my band mates LAG Dread and then took my CLD41 and strummed one chord He just turned his head towards me and said "That one has a huge sound"! His LAG is likely ply top an is very subdued in tone as I have experienced with so many acoustics I tried before! Indeed, this CLD-41 is an eyeopener (or ear opener) ! Im yet to try it with the Elixir Nano strings! Wonder if I will get even more attack out of those low E and A strings

I had elixirs on mine @chedapapa and it sang! Very fizzy and zippy which I believe is what you like. I've had many compliments about both my HB acoustic guitars - no-one believes the price. My CLD41 sounds even better after 2 years' constant playing. Will be gigging with it tonight

I'd really like HB to make a CLD28 with no cutaway and a pickup Heh, I'm the opposite, keep hoping they'll make ANY guitar with a cutaway but without a pickup, currently ALL their guitars with cutaways have those useless blocks of metal and plastic deadening the midrange tone.
It's not like anyone records acoustics with a pickup. It's a live-only solution, and even then I'd rather rig a mic up.

Elixir are very good strings, but I tried all premium brands on my D41 and I should say that all buzzing fret and tuning problems vanished when I was restringing my D41 with DR-Rare. Not so soft to play as Elixir and not so crisp sound as D'Addario but last ages. Btw, rtm and Dodger, you're both right, the choice of HB acoustics should be larger to the any direction.
