Nice, that´s the video I just viewed cause I wondered how it might sound!
I always wanted a Gothic Thunderbird, but now they are all bolt-on and I think that might take too much punch away.

I haven't had chance to try the TB-70, although I have played the Epi Nicki Sixx version on a few occasions. To be truthful, the Epi isn't bad, but neck dive is a major issue with the bass. However, I remember someone (Kodiakblair) saying that neck dive doesn't happen if you keep your hands on the neck I think kodiakblair knows someone who has the TB-70

Our fellow member basskitcase owned a TB-70 for a while but he hasn't been active here for months. Might be worth sending him a message. Having just watched that video I've got to ask " Where the hell is the active circuit ? " Not that T-bird basses need actives but if you're going to add them at least have them affect the tone. There were some favourable reviews in German on the Thomann site but I don't remember it being so well received on bassic.ch,my German skills are poor so I'd suggest checking bassic.ch yourself. It was definitely talked about there. Neck dive is part of Rock 'n' Roll If it wasn't nobody would play T-birds or Mockingbirds. Is anyone going to try and suggest a Mockingbird ain't Rock 'n' Roll

Thanks for the info, I´ll check up on the bassic.ch site. But my friend will get it anyway, as he told me yesterday.
When I get back from my 2 week vacation he might already have it. I can post a review how it feels and sounds, so you will know if it´s worth the money.

Let's get things in perspective here, it's 148 euro. For it not to be worth the money if would need to be unplayable, strings cost 25 euro for Christ sake. If your friend wants a T-bird and don't have the 3-400euro for a used Epiphone then he has to get the TB-70,it's a no-brainer. With the picture of him playing a T-bird in his mind,he'll play the Thomann bass happily. If you like the look and feel of a bass you'll play the thing regardless. When it comes to sound, well there's loads of ways to improve that. Change the strings, play through a 35 euro Behringer BDI21,make a foam mute. The list is endless. One thing I do advise though is tell your friend not to look for faults ;)When I was young nd the world was in black and white there was very little choice and after market parts almost non existent so when you bought a bass that was it.No complaining about bridges or tuners, you just played the thing and saved your money to buy string occasionally. If he's proud of his bass he'll be a better player. Replying to your post earlier spurred me to take the T-bird down off the wall and play it,for that you have my thanks

Ha ha LOL this made me almost spill me morning coffee I can second on the strings "occasionally" part. Only my occasionally would be "until a string breaks" Talking about my acoustic guitar playing tho. I remember times when we would fix our own bikes and many other things (even computers). These days one simply buys another one. This makes me think tho about how these low prices make us buy way too much stuff, taking toll on Mother Earth's resources. Im sure soon enough some folks will instead of changing new strings simply buy another HB guitar with D'addarios on it Sorry, bit of topic ...

Don't get me started on boiling strings JAC Seems though folk buy stuff and then point out all the perceived faults instead of just playing them. Wouldn't surprise me if folks don't already buy new guitars instead of strings, they do it now instead of setting them up

...ok it has been settled! The HB TB-70VS is discontinued, so there won´t be a review for it from me... My friend has to pick another Bass, but I will do a review for that model, whichever he may get, next month.

Sorry to hear that. The bass was there yesterday Im sure. I think its Gibson pressing Harley Benton to stop copying their guitars. They already changed the shape of the HB Les Paul guitars.

More likely just low sales Che than Gibson pressure. The RB414 bass and RB-612 are still for sale and given Rickenbacker's perchance for litigation on any thing remotely like their products they'd be the first to go.Think I only ever heard of 3 folk buying the TB-70.
Hope your friend gets his bass soon EvolatoR.
