Hi friends, I need an help:
I would like to buy a new HB guitar and my preferences are: TE 70/80/90, CST 24 or Fusion model ... which is the lightest for you? I like my JA60 specially for the lightweight, and I like the sc custom too (but this one is so heavy ...) I don't want to buy another heavy guitar. I don't think that THOMANN it's the only one that made "heavy guitars", but after the reading of the past threads about HB guitars weight and weight oscillations ... I want to be conscious of the real guitar weight before buying.

Im sure the TE70 should be the lightest. Its Basswood after all. I really dislike heavy guitars and my TE-70 sure aint such I would stay away from the Mahogani and Alder. Swamp Ash can be either or. The TE-90 is semi hollow so could be on the lighter side too

My basswood TE-20 is 3.24kg so almost as light as my JA-60 which is 3.21kg. In theory the TE70 should be around the same weight. Variation of +- 10% is possible though. I also have a CST24T which I have not yet weighed. It feels heavy though - maybe 3.80kg.

TE70RW is quite light. I would look for basswood guitars e.g. JA60 should be a good candidate.

Your safest bet then would be to buy 2nd hand.

I keep data about everything. It's better than buying guitars…
CST-24 HB (semi-hollow) 3,6 Kg CST-24T 3,6 Kg DC-600 3,1 Kg Dynamic 3,5 Kg Extreme-76 3,5 Kg FanFret-6 3,2 Kg FanFret-7 3,6 Kg FanFret-8 4,1 Kg Fusion HSH & HH 3,2 Kg JA 60 3,1 Kg RG-Junior (mini) 2,3 Kg SC-400 (humbucker) 3,9 Kg SC-450 GT (with P90) 4,2 Kg SC-450 Plus (3 models) 3,9 - 4,3 Kg SC-550 4 Kg SC-7 4 Kg SC-Custom 4 Kg ST-20 3,3 Kg TE-30 3,8 Kg TE-7 4,2 Kg TE-70 Rosewood 3,5 Kg TE-90 (semi-hollow) 3,4 Kg TE-90 FLT 3,7 Kg Victory Plus 3,4 Kg XT-22 3,6 Kg
Mahogany is not a heavy wood, by the way. The name is applied to many different variants and my Mahogany Strat' weighs 3Kg. My mahogany Schecter weighs about 4 and it's a big 7-string. The Les Paul shape makes heavy guitars. That also applies to non-contoured, thick Telecaster slabs.

I doubt there will be any difference in quality between the Fusion models. I read in Youtube comments that some Roasted Maple necks are extremely thin, thinner than the Ibanez Wizard, but that wasn't confirmed by review videos so I suspect there is some variation in there.

I found in the videos and the threads about fusion model the problem related to the retainer bar and intonation.
I never used a whammy-bar ... in my old Strato there is a tremolo but for intonation problem i did not used it never. So before buying a fusion model i want to be sure that i can use the guitar also without the tremolo bar.

This guy removed the bar and was happy with the results:
He went on to replace the nut too because lubricating it seemed not to last long enough. If the vibrato is tightened fast into the cavity, the guitar will work just as a hard-tail. Of course it's a waste to buy a vibrato and not use it.

That JB-75 is heavier than my 4.5 Kg Squier 5-String. Ash beats basswood by a long shot, considering the huge neck and headstock of the Squier. The poplar of the PB-20 does have its virtues. All three have maple necks.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Luggage scales do the job. Can't leave home without it these days (at least when flying abroad).
