Dear all,
I am New to this forum and build my first guitar. All went smoothly until now. The action on the first fret is less than 1mm, the adjustment with the saddle on the 22nd fret is maximum 1 mm action. What is wrong?

I'll guess three times: - saddle screws are too short. - neck is too thick. - neck pocket is too shallow. - neck is tilted backwards. - don't mind me, I cannot count.

If neck and body were sold together, they ought to fit perfectly but this must not be the case if they were bought separately. Action should go up way above 2 mm on any guitar. I suppose 4 is a given.

My first thought was neck might need a shim.

I agree. I suspect something's not quite tightly pulled together in the neck pocket. Got the same issue, will try to measure where it is, the cavity for the neck or the neck.

I agree. I suspect something's not quite tightly pulled together in the neck pocket.I have checked, the part of the neck that is suppose to fit in the cavity/neck pocket is like a 'roadbump' I have started to make it flat but it is not eazy, I have to remove about 0.7-1 mm in the 'middle' and that is hard to get the angles correct by hand. The best would to have a milling machine to get it flat. I think they grinding it by hand then they have taken away more at the edges. One possibility is to use a thin layer of chemical wood, adjust the neck so it is straight and flat. This also a huge knowledge in measuring and only one try... Not recommended!
