The Roswell site does not use the term P90 and states "Jazzmaster® vintage spec single-coil pickup". Right I took a reading via the jack Neck pick up: 6.7K 2.9H Bridge pick up: 11.4K 4.6H This is obviously a ball park figure I will re do reading when I eventually have to do any maintenence. Sorry DerAlex I'm not going to pull a perfectly set up guitar apart just to try to clarify what type of pick ups it has. They do not have adjustable pole pieces I would assume the are a form of P90. Thank you LeoThunder for you comparison on the colour of St's. I did apologise for the bad lighting in my photos. As I have the JA 60 SB in front of me right now I can categorically state they are not white in colour but a light cream. As for which looks best the JA 60 SB or the JA 60 OW I can't honestly say as I do not have the latter! What I will say is I like the look of the JA 60 SB which may come as a surprise as I purchased it! Basically I do not give a toss what other people's opinion of the SA 60 SB or OW unless they have or have had one. Much like my opinion of a 550 SC, other than to say it looks nice I can not reaally give a valid opinion. Part of buying any guitar is what appeals look wise. So if you don't like the look don't buy it! To finish up, I like the look of the JA 60 SB, I like how it sounds but that is my opinion. I am really happy with it and still can't believe how well set up it arrived. 😊😊😊

I have taken issue with purchasing things from Thomann which did not look as presented on their web site. I would see something I liked, then see it look quite differently in someone's video, then in another shade somewhere else, depending on their lighting and cameras. It seems they are improving their product pictures and therefore the customer's experience, as least when they send what is depicted.

I wonder what pots they are using in the circuit? 250K Ohm or 500K or 1M. Jazzmasters usually use 1M I think. The P90s in my JA60 are connected to 250K pots.

Look wise I knew it was Sunburst as you say the shade/colour can look different in photos. As for the pups we speculated before it arrived what they would be. It seems it will always be a little bit of a gamble buying a new Harly Benton from Thomann. They recently moved production and to be honest we don't know where they are built or if Thomann sources the same model from different factories? There is no visible marking on my JA 60 for country of origin. So is it Vietnamese, Chinese I don't know? The quality I have to say on this guitar can not be faulted, it way exceeds it's price point in terms of fit & finish and playability. I may be lucky I must admit I had worries over the potential bridge problem that roberto pointed out. The pick ups are not a concern as they can be replaced if necessary and it would still be an inexpensive guitar. Having said that I like the present pups they are tonally different by a mile from my other guitars. This guitar also sustains like crazy, why I have no idea? At the end of the day for £115 it is unbelievable quality and value.

I don't knot what pots or caps are in it? If I had to set it up as I expected I would do, I would have taken the pg off and had a look. I know it's supposed to be a Jazzmaster copy but it does not as you know have the additional tone circuit a Jazzmaster has.

What appeals will always be a personal thing and cannot be criticised. I always say I don't like sunbursts and then something will pop up that looks just right in one. I'm not even consistent! I have 2. No, 3, but I don't really like the Jazz bass sunburst. Looks like a burnt sausage. I initially wanted the Olympic White but the Sunburst sort of sneaked up on me. As I said previously I never would have envisaged getting a guitar of this shape and colour. Perhaps it the vintage look as I am fast becoming vintage myself 😎

The Warmoth article is an interesting read. I measured the covers they are 93mmX42mm obviously I don't know the specs of the bobbins etc. The only thing I can compare them with is the bridge humbucker sized P90 I put in one of my Squire Starts (8K 3H). They are way more ballsy than that as you would probably expect.

At the end of the day for £115 it is unbelievable quality and value. The pick-ups have their own size, so replacing them could have been limited in terms of options. Roswell seem to provide quite serviceable products, though. I suppose it now makes this, the ST-62 and the SC-450 Goldtop with P90 three terrific bargains to explore the classic single coil spectrum.

Maybe you would be so nice to remove one of the pickups and see if they have bar magnets? +1 for this idea would love to see how it looks under da hood! Close up of the bar magnets as well if any. Nothing wrong with P90 being in there but is an issue if you want to swap them as that cavity is now too big for normal P90 soaps or even the humbucker p90 format.

You are right but nothing some black sticky backed plastic and egg cartons could not remedy 😁
