What am I looking at folks? I need a good enough pickup that will not feedback or get too much of those guitar-body sounds one creates while playing. Nothing microphonic I guess. Im not playing my CLD-41S often as I prefer wet sound, reverb, delay or else ... So I need a magnetic pickup as I dilike Piezzo or those microphonic magnetic pickups. What am I looking for? Any ideas? I hope for an affordable alternative

Any ideas? I hope for an affordable alternative What's your preferred budget CheDaPapa? I've currently three acoustics, and as is my wont at this phase of my 'guitarmanship', am trialling various acoustic pickup types myself. My APX600 already had Yamaha's onboard System 65 pre-amp and piezo pup, so I've fitted an internal Fishman Presys Blend Plus pre-amp with mic and piezo in the Aldicoustic which required a little minor if permanent carpentry, and a Flanger FP-02 magnetic (passive) soundhole pickup in Cort which required a screwdriver a few minutes fiddling. Admittedly I'm a cheapskate as I acquaint with the various technologies from a practical deployment perspective and balance needs vs wants at this time. Nuancing that (n)th tone fidelity will come later when my skill level commands it. The other consideration in my case is that everything Made in the USA costs an arm and a leg in my country due the comparative strength of the USD, shipping if buying direct, or ripoff sole line import distribution locally. Brands like Seymour Duncan or Di Marzio might be a lot more affordably amenable to you if you're in the US, so this is written with that in mind as a consideration. Unsurprisingly I baulk at paying AUD$140 in AU for the exact same item which costs just USD$45 in the US. So dipping my feet in the water rather than diving in the deep end, here's what I bought instead. Landed cost inc shipping and tax was AUD$25, less than a quarter of the absolute best price I could source possibly that Seymour Duncan SC for. Sources of the Seymour Duncan currently have stock (3) at that price but didn't at the time I bought my Flanger FP-02, and once they sell out, it can be months before they restock and are available at that price again. If Seymour Duncan's spiel is to be taken at face value, "delivers a bright, clear acoustic tone that is great for both energetic strumming, and delicate fingerstyle playing. The fact that it is a single coil means that you get more chime, and top end brilliance." then that pretty much identically describes the characteristics of my FP-02 to my ear. As I don't have both for side by side comparative testing, I can't offer a comparison review other than to say I can't see the Seymour Duncan SC's sound after adjusting tone with my acoustic or digital modelling amps justifying its worth being 4½ times the price of the Flanger for my purpose, the caveat as always, appreciating YMMV . Flanger's 'woody' FP-02 works a treat in my Cort Concert acoustic while I learn all about passive pickups and what I can do with them through my various amps. Magnet pole alignment fits 11mm string spacing perfectly, although the screw clamp mount was fiddly to fit in Concert sized soundhole, requiring removal and refitting of one of the clamps to fit. Just one inexpensive option. Cheers.
