For strumming along something Stratocaster style would be my recommendation.

I'm no expert but a Tele is perfect for country - DefJef?

You can't go wrong with Tele! 3 very distinct tones with 3 switch positions! very woody in neck, very harmonic in the middle and very snappy in the bridge! All covered

Yeah I guess it would be bob dylan type work Bob Dylan has played Stratocasters Telecasters Les Pauls and many other other guitars. I would also recommend a Telecaster but I think a Stratocaster is more versatile. Three pickups verses two. They generally sound a little different but I have mistaken the sound of one over the other many times. And there are country artists who play Les Pauls. If you are able to, try as many electric guitars as you can find and use whatever you feel the most comfortable with.

And then you’ll need a semi-hollow, Flying V and an Explorer.

For an "all around" instrument, you'd need an HSH pick-up configuration with coil split and without a strongly typed sound. It is probably an Ibanez or one of the new Fusion models.

There is only one all round guitar in the world, and it is YOUR guitar.
If you do not believe me ask Bruce Springsteen, Joe Strummer, BB King, Willie Nelson, Louis Bertignac ....
