Gracias senior. It's my new, pre-owned $99 SC-Custom that punches WAY above it's weight. The security guy at Guitar Center wouldn't let me out with the guitar because he didn't believe it was a $99 guitar. ha ha. I had to show him the serial number to match up the receipt. He still didn't believe me. Thought I was scamming a pricey guitar. That's a bargain eddie , I like that finish. Is it all original or has it been modded in anyway? The only mod is the previous owner added a set of strap locks. I may update the harness and pups ... but I think that's more for fun than practicality.

Some of the HB's come with strap locks as standard. That's good no prior mods have been done, you can make it how you want eddie. I've seen you mention the Jimmy Page harness in a few posts, what's the attraction to that? If I remember correctly isn't that split coils, in phase and out of phase switching?

The Jimmy Page harness won't work with the V-T-T set up. Gotta be 4 pots. Maybe I'll have to get a 4 pot HB LP. I just wanna try something different. I've just read lots of great reviews on people upgrading their Epi LP's with Golden Age Overwound pups and the Jimmy Page harness. I wanted to give it a try ... but not on this guitar. I really enjoy these guitars as-is. I'm thinking there's really no need to do any modding. It's all in my head.

I'd give yourself a bit of time with it eddie, see how it sounds and if it does what you want it to. If you don't like it then mod it, you got plenty of time to make your mind up what you really want to do with it then. 🤔

I have plenty of cheapo Squiers to upgrade. These HBs are fantastic as is.

More I think because they are easy to mod, you could have 3 or 4 pickguards with different pup set ups that are easily swapped with little soldering.

More room to maneuver and easier to get to the wiring. A little love takes these guitars to new levels of fun.

If you want to try the whole crazy Jimmy Page wiring thing in a guitar with less than 4 pots, Seymour Duncan makes a pickup ring switching system called the Triple Shot. there's a handy video demonstration linked there as well. I like Joe's channel, it's interesting and he does a nice job of demoing all sorts of different things. it's an interesting idea, but I can't say I've ever seen it in person or even popping up on many YouTube videos, so it's hard to gauge if it's reliable or even particularly useful? if anything, I'd probably install them, mess around with the settings, and then find that particular sound or two I like from a given pickup, and then leave it alone. it does make it so you don't have to pop the cavity open and resolder everything while figuring that out, though! I think they were specifically made for those interesting Seymour Duncan P-Rails pickups (half P-90, half single rail, combined to make a really hot humbucker, splits to either style). I would really like to try those pickups, and there are a few production models of guitars that seem to have them, but I have to travel a bit farther than I'd like to find a guitar with them installed and in stock. the demos sound interesting, but I get the sense that it might be one of those weird products where it's a great idea in theory, but one or more of the settings won't sound very good. maybe the P-90 part is halfway convincing, but the humbucker setting seems overly muddy / dark in clips as the output is pretty high when both coils are combined in series. can likely EQ to taste, but generally speaking, you can't really add frequencies back in that were never really there in the first place. it's pretty expensive for what is essentially a cheap PCB with solder points. odds are they patented it though, and it is a pretty niche item. ~$75 CDN or so around here for a pair of pickup rings before tax and shipping. make sure you get the appropriate kind for your guitar if you're interested. there's a model for flat top guitars (like an LP Junior or Telecaster) or for carved tops (standard Les Paul).
