Jonathan Koh has recently purchased an ST-62DLX and posted a demo in which he reports a limitation in the course of the vibrato system, saying he cannot "dive bomb" because the block hits the cavity, which we hear when he actions it in the video: A picture of the cavity shows a thick block, much thicker than the one I have in my older guitar of the same model or in my regular ST-62 from 2017. He says he has removed the third spring, by the way. It was there. Pity someone thought of an improvement and ended up making things worse. I wonder if this big block will also be found on the regular 119€ model.

I imagine some people complained about the thin trem blocks in these models. Mister Harley Benton listened and responded with what you see here. And now people complain about restricted travel. The cavity does appear larger but with less space before and after the block. Time for some chiselling?
I watched the video yesterday. I like this guy.

Dive bomb with Strat trem, is this a joke ? why do you think Eddie Van Halen did so much work on his original Frankenstrat ? IT ALSO INCLUDED A LARGER ROUTING IN THE TREM HOLE ! And this is also why Floyd holes are larger Swaping from this ****ty thin block to a thicker one is nothing but an improvement. The complete name of the thing is SUSTAIN BLOCK, and the first word is not there for cosmetics. The effect on the sustain when changing from thin to thick, is huge.
And if the block was made of steel or brass, this would be even better. The difference - even between steel and brass - is perceptible, you can trust me, I did test it !

I've been looking at getting one of these for a backup strat. Are the bridges typical narrow 2 1/16 import spacing or the wide vintage spacing?

String spacing at the bridge is 10.5 mm.

String spacing at the bridge is 10.5 mm. Awesome thanks! So I've already got a Wudtone bridge with Highwood saddles to drop in if it turns out to be a keeper.
