Frets on my beloved ST-62MN Black are being worn out and I have no tool nor knowledge to fix this and the cheapest lad to do the leveling and crowning is around 90-100 Euros.
So I thought I'll rather buy a new HB Strat instead and this DLX model is 149Euros. I might keep the black one and at some stage try do the frets myself or sell it cheap.
The frets on my TE-70BP are also being worn out so thinking to do something similar (maybe get the TE-52 instead). Of course in both cases I will use the Ironstone and DiMarzio pups I already have with all the fancy 7 way (Strat) and 5 way (Tele) electronics.
Any who, this ST-62DLX OW should arrive Monday ... I hope!

Thanks mate! Im already happy with the TE-70BP and ST-62MN Black but its starting to annoy the **** out of me when those high strings buzz on certain worn out frets This makes me play the higher string gently, and at times I just want to wack the *#&% out of them WITHOUT all the buzz I LOVE strats, so as long this new axe is playable I will be very happy with it. I also need a color change as all my guitars are black at this stage, makes me feel too "dark" . I just realised that the trem block in theis DLX version is the large one, unlike the one in ST-62MN which is thin (but still sustain very well).

My "low action" is 2,5mm on E and 2mm on e I dont go lower than that and everything higher is just too annoying. Still I get the fret zing (like the one you get with nut being slotted wrong) as the fret ware is visible. If I play gently then no big problems but I hate to be limited! This anodised PG will be taken OFF! Love my 4 ply Tortoise (with a real tort layer on top, not that ugly photo layer style) and its easier to just trasfer the whole innards at once!

As you can see in this photo the wear is not great but still does cause slight zingy buzz when playing clean and I hit the string stronger. If overdriven then no issues but clean big issue! I hate those e, b and G strings buzzing against frets! Look at the b string fret position, not much but audiable. Sure did do all the tricks to raise action more, truss rodd, even tilt the neck in its pocket ... nah! It takes my feel away and my enjoyment is off! I REALLY should get me self a guitar with stainless steel frets! Strings I can change often but frets not so!

BTW, this new DLX Strat has Modern D neck and if too thin might just go back. I bought it only because one You tube demo states that this neck is almost same as the one on TE-70BP which I also have and that is perfect for me. Will see once receive it!

Obviously am not the one who has to play this guitar but those frets do not look too bad to me. I have allowed mine to get much worse than that before I have leveled them!

Vincent do you play mostly dirty tones? I feel no issues with ODed tone as this buzz gets lost in the dirt but when playing clean/cleanish that zingy buzz does annoy me when I wack those high strings. Maybe I shoud just buy a FUZZ pedal instead on stressing about worn frets

That's a nice looking 'board Che. Im sure my worn out fret points would be larger if I play differently but I always wobble and hence wear outside those dents making the frets flat on top and if I dont play the next higher fret much there will be buzz. Long story short, need fine frets. I should try get a few cheaper fret tools so to level and crown myself in the future.

Could be the finger style. I can't really play with a plectrum.
