It's not a very long sound sample to determine whether they are the same. Even if it were longer, comparisons probably going to vary with difference of amplification and how it's recorded. All I can say for sure is that I'm very satisfied with my CLD-41 SE WN. I can't say it's right on parr with a Martin. That's doubtful; it's just great in its own right, great quality, bang for the buck, etc.. As for the back and sides being rosewood on older models and walnut on newer, I personally think that either doesn't matter at all or very very slight difference. Not worse or better, just the slightest difference (I have a high end Tanglewood solid rosewood sides and back which does sound a tad fuller, but mostly because of solid wood I think, not the type of wood)

For what it's worth, I find walnut a bit closer to the sound of mahogany than the sound of rosewood. So if anything, I'm more likely to prefer walnut to rosewood as I generally prefer that tone, I find it to be a little clearer and with a little more low-mid-range 'bark' to it.

Yes, ric, this is very cool guitar, shame they don't produce them with this headstock design any more. This sound is very authentic, I'm the owner of CLD-41 RW and I can say that if using little bit better equipment you can get even better sound. I never hear walnut, so I can't say about it much.
