Hi. New to the club. I already have an XT-22 in black cherry flame, and a TE-30 Tele. Great guitars. I gigged with the XT two days after receiving it, I was so confident in it.
Now I've started looking at acoustics. I've read great reviews on the CLD-28SCE and CLD-41SE WN. It seems these have a similar build (spruce top, walnut body, Ovangkol board, Fishman Presys-II electronics). Is the only real difference the cut out and superfluous stuff on the 41SE (abalone inlays, binding, gold tuners, etc)?
Thanks!

Yes, man, you're mainly right, they should be almost equal. The cutaway is benefit indeed and if the bling is not very important for you I would recommend CLD-28SCE. I'm the owner of the CLD-41, it's nice and I like it, but CLD-28 wont be worse, really.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. Both sound pretty good on compressed YouTube videos.

I was actually looking at the cld28 this week but could not find any YouTube videos. I am hoping to pick up the 41 and cla 28 some time soon. the 28 would be nice to have in alternate tunings. I wonder though, I really like those open back tuners. Can the stock ones on the HB guitars be changed easily enough?

You can change tuners on any guitar. I exchanged the stock ones on my CLA-28 for tuners with better gear ratio, steel string guitar needs 1:18 gear ratio at least. Stock ones were 1:15 or something.

I noticed the cla had open tuners which suit the pre war look. the 41 doesn't. might be a nice touch!

I got open back tuners on my Sigma DR-41, very cool vintage look! I think they can fit to any style guitar pretty well. Lights.

As those two guitars are in my list at the moment I am going to add my opinion on just few points. I do not own any or tried anyone of them. So the neck width on the 28 is 45 mm and on the 41 it is 43 mm, so that is to be considered. The 41 looks much better in my opinion with a nicer finish All around. For what I read for strumming the 41 has better volume too. In size the 28 might be slightly smaller but not by much. All in all it seems to me, given than the price difference is not that great, that the CLD 41 is the better one of the two. What I am trying to find out is how good is the CLD 41 compare to the Sire R3 as that guitar is highly rated. ( also looking at the new Sire Larry Carlton A4 😅)

CLD is best for strumming, CLA for fingerpicking , got no experience with Sire.
