Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum having read it for a while researching my new acquisition. I decided to get the cst24t as it looked to be a great deal. I was expecting to have to do some setup work but as I unpacked it, all looked fine and it was even in tune! I think Thomman has reacted to feedback and criticism about build as mine appears to have a rosewood fingerboard, black shielding painted inside the cavities and a long tenon neck joint. The guitar certainly has a nice resonance strummed unplugged.

Hi, I finally managed to resize a few photos to post. The first shows the neck pocket once the front pickup is removed, the cavity painted black and the long tenon neck joint. Second shows the neck after a wipe over with lemon oil. Third shows that I have already replaced the knobs with 'Harley Benton' orange speed knobs purchased with the guitar.

Hello Guydio!
Interesting. Is this just black paint or some kind of shielding? Probably just paint, not wired as much I can see.
Edit: And what's that metallic thing in the bottom? Screw? Edit 2: Ah, it's probably trem screw. And some kind of (bit) messy construction (for tremolo?).

I can't see any wires attached to the painted areas. I'm not sure how much 'shielding' it gives if its just a painted pocket, however I think the paint contains graphite and carbon black so who knows. They're humbuckers anyhow and they do buck the hum as the name suggests. It might be more of a problem with single coils. The guitar is quiet in any case. The tremelo anchor screws are quite long and do go through into the neck pocket and, in my case into the glued in neck which is essentially now one glued block of wood now. I've taken off one of the springs from the tremelo and set the tension so that the trem unit is now floating instead of sitting tightly on the guitar wooden top. The guitar needed constant retuning doing this until I was happy with the final setting.
