Just want to share my first impressions of the JB-20 in SB.
I guess I got lucky in the HB lottery this time
I'm really impressed by the quality. +/- 100 Euro isn't much - so I was curious what I get for the money.
The finish is absolutely flawless - smooth and shiny. Also the fretboard is smooth and clean. I'm sure it appreciates some oiling but that's all that is to do.
The frets are smooth and clean - not perfect shiny polished but still in a very good & usable condition. Absolutely no sharp edges!
The string setup is low action (personally i prefer a higher one but hey it's a really good job done. so i won't complain.). The tuning mechanics are in line - nothing crooked. Pickup placement is fine.
Over all I'm VERY pleased with what I see.
The fretboard is Amaranth. I wonder why some people don't like that. Would like to hear your opinions if you have one.
So far I have only had good experiences with Amaranth and would always prefer it over "roasted ****oba". Actually the fretboard NOT being "roasted ****oba" was the final reason why I eventually bought this bass.
Also worth mentioning: on the website's pictures it looks like the body is made out of 3 pieces. It looks like there is something wrong with the coloring so that the middle part is lighter than the sides. I was concerned that mine would look like this too but mine is absolutely fine. Front and back are evenly colored. Nothing looks off. Nothing gives the impression of different pieces poorly glued together.
Also a side note: the Quality Control mark is from January 2021. So I guess it's a recently build one and not something that had been laying around for several years.
