Thanks for the review thunderbird. Love that colour Love the aesthetic. Haven't heard yours with those default Epiphone PUPs yet, but appreciative of LP PAF tones generally. Excited for you with your new toy if not a traditional Les Paul instrument aficionado myself, much as I'd like to be. Traditional '50s neck is just too chunky for my hand size. Universally acknowledged as (too) heavy and as I find them, although your example at 4KG (3.98KG rounded up is far from a worst case one and not what I consider the most aggravating aspect of the design per se. The imbalanced CG exacerbated by the body heaviness which in concert with its shape makes it awkward to play seated balanced on on the thigh and so a constant struggle fighting neck rise with the fretting hand is IMPE. OK on a thick wide padded leather strap with a young spine I suppose which keeps that neck struggle in check. Shame, as it's a guitar I'd most love to love, but analogises to the beautiful woman one finds seriously character flawed in reality behind nature's gift of her looks and a pretty feminine summer frock. Purchase with complimentary PLEK through Port Mac Guitars? Would you recommend them?

I make a effort to ignore neck sizes, if I didn't I would need to thin the herd to an unbearable level. I am a home player who only plays seated, if a guitar is awkward and or too heavy for my lap, I will use a strap to alleviate the issue/s. I can always find a workaround Purchase with complimentary PLEK through Port Mac Guitars? Would you recommend them? Absolutely, their prices are super competitive with all other Aussie online retailers and the Plek job seals the deal. They even install your personal preference of string size. Here's a demo, forgive the iffy playing and using software.

Mine doesn't, much as I wish I'd been born with guitar proportions of Chuck Berry though he had other crosses to bear I'm probably gladly have exchanged for mine. thunderbird said "I am a home player who only plays seated, if a guitar is awkward and or too heavy for my lap, I will use a strap to alleviate the issue/s. I'd rather not workaround, hence my love for Revstars and alternative HH designs. But, if it works for you is all that's important. thunderbird said "Absolutely, their prices are super competitive with all other Aussie online retailers and the Plek job seals the deal. Thanks for that. I haven't used Port Mac Guitars (PMG) myself for a guitar purchase yet, although have been tempted twice. Their complimentary PLEK with new guitar purchase makes them enticing. They very nearly got my initial guitar & amp 'interest rebirth' purchase half a decade ago, and would have become a loyal repeat customer had that gone well -15 new guitars (average 3/year) and counting so far along with a ton of other gear. Unfortunately although helpful and patient with my initial telephone enquiry, when I went to purchase and telephoned to speak with them late in the afternoon that same day, whoever answered the phone (different person but sounded full of self importance so surmise was one of the owners) was abrupt, arrogant and dismissive when he could sense I was a guitar Gumby not purchasing a $1500 or > guitar. He actually hung up on me mid the few qualifying and reassurance questions though my questioning was polite and hardly pedantic or obsessive excessive. ***? I figured if PMG were going to be like that with a new sale, how bad would they be after sale or difficult to deal with if problems arose, particularly with an online distance sale. No thanks. I purchased elsewhere needless to say. Sadly, and I say this having lived all over the world in my time, all too characteristic of what passes in Australia for 'customer service'. They didn't get my business then, and haven't since other than for a no brainer "what could go wrong"? accessory purchase. JFI you linked to the original Part 1 walkaround vid not the Part 2 demo. Initial impression of those PUPs I like the tone, although the neck in that demo sounded 'a little too much mud' for me. I suspect it was likely an AmpliTube setting? My original Roswells in my Harley Benton SC Custom sounded like that. Swapped them out for Korean Wilkinsons -much better. Now about to swap them out once again for Seymour Duncan '59n and TB-4 bridge.
