I have been wanting to try a guitar with stainless steel frets for a while but couldn't really justify the cost. But when I saw used Fusion-T advertised locally for a fair price in near mint condition, I decided to go for it.
So far, my impressions of it are very favourable. The finish and paintwork are very good. The neck is comfortable with a fast satin finish and the fretwork is good with no high frets or sharp ends. I still need to change the strings and clean the fretboard - going by the dirt on the fretboard up most of the neck and corrosion on the strings, the previous owner played it a lot. It currently has 8 gauge strings on it which are a bit too light for my taste.
The frets are smooth and don't show any signs of wear. I might polish them up when I change the strings. Intonation on the top strings is off but that's almost certainly caused by the knackered strings. The nut has been cut well and I haven't noticed any binding during tuning. Action is currently 1.5mm to 1.25mm (which is how I like it) and just needed a tiny bit more neck relief as the top E string wasn't ringing completely cleanly. I really like the truss rod adjuster being at the body end of the neck. It makes ad-hoc adjustments so much easier.
The previous owner decked the trem and I may leave it like that. I've found floating trems complicate the tuning process too much for my liking and make unison bends sound sour. Because of the trem cavity and the comfort carve, the guitar isn't too weighty.
Now I just have to decide on whether to switch to 9s or 10s when I restring.
