I saw that and I'm tempted. I was hoping to see a double-bound Tele, but seafoam with a roasted maple neck at that price is hard to pass up.

Hey, Lefties need guitars too ... But would'nt it be easier to do the "Hendrix Thing" on a Tele as opposed to a Strat ? That is , to play it upside down, and string it "backwards" ? I saw some data from PRS, that left handed guitars are simply hard to move ... I would think that there would be greater demand, but manufacturers are loath to make'em left handed ... While PRS is "loath" to make neck carves (except for their Pattern Thin) that suit me ... Follow Up NO ... when a Tele is flipped upside down ... the durn control panel gets in the way ... Snatch up them Lefty Harley Bentons !!!

I have one arriving on Monday. I ordered a compensated bridge from Allparts along with a 4-way switch and better knobs. I see they also offer a pink lefty TE-62. I like the pastels, but the pink does nothing for me.

I would love to see the double bound ones in left handed. They look so nice. Hope they do it.

Alas, no. It has been done, of course. Jimi played all the lead guitar parts on Purple Haze on a borrowed, right handed Tele restrung. Of necessity, a young Pete Holidai did it in the early days of the Radiators From Space: Problem is, while it looks cool, the jack socket being on the top edge is a pest. You can sort of work round it with a right-angled cable, but it's still very in the way (whereas the angled, face-mounted socket on a Strat works beautifully, just the right angle to tuck your cable out through your strap and out of the way). The positioning of the controls on a Tele - as you note - also has them that little bit more in the way than on a Strat when you've got it upside down, but its' the socket is the real killer for me. My first electric guitar was a Marlin superstrat style (very much in the vein of a Jackson Soloist) back in 1992, with an edge-mounted slot - it really was not a choice I'd make now, especially not over Hendrixing a Strat or even something like an SG with a face-mounted socket. Jimi was very adaptable and that Purple Haze leadwork is *amazing*, but it's notable he never played a Tele live... I suppose with a bit of jiggery pokery you might be able to resite the socket, possibly replacing one of the knobs for a tidier job?... but the only real advantage I can see with it is due to the very different visual imagery, it really doesn't provoke the inevitable, and inevitably unflattering, comparisons to Hendrix. Controls and socket moved, though, it could look cool AF.... Hey, Lefties need guitars too ... But would'nt it be easier to do the "Hendrix Thing" on a Tele as opposed to a Strat ?

They do look very nice indeed. I'm planning to but a TE52 in due course, and then with that and my CIJ Fender Tele 71RI it'd be impossible to justify a third Tele type (I'm not in a band, and it seems unlikely I'll be gigging any time foreseeably, given I'm a] staring down the barrel of turning fifty next year, b] work at a university (fifty hour weeks therefore a norm), and c] I'm a **** guitar player). I was tempted by the Strat version, but I'm holding out for one with a 21 fret neck and a skunk stripe (though I'd settle for 21 frets, really). If ever I decided I had room for an Esquier type, though, one of these would be an excellent base for it. Really exciting to see this range and colours like that available left handed. When I started playing in 1991, if the guitar you wanted *was* available left handed, it was rarely in a choice beyond black, white or sunburst unless you were spending serious money on a US-made guitar. Maple fingerboards? Until relatively recently, much less common. Not so long ago (pre Player Series), with Fender you not only had to go up to the American Standard to get a left handed option in a traditional, one-pickup P-Bass, but if you wanted one with a maple board you were into the 57RI at over a grand.... I know we're only a small part of the market, but even so...
