Hi all, First post here I'm looking for an entry level bass after 35 yrs away from it all. Was never any good, got as far as a garage band playing at friends parties. Back then I splurged and bought a Fender Jazz, and loved the slimness of the neck. I did notice then (the 80s) that Music Man featured in a bunch of funk songs, having a great sound. Does anyone know how each of the JB-20 and MB-4 play and sound compared to the F Jazz and Music Mans? Or even how they compare to each other? Feel of the neck and such. I'm going to play for personal enjoyment. Cheers.

I guess at the current rate of a JB-20 or a PB-20 you can´t go wrong. All HBs in recent years were very good (with just one that was just ok - but then just return it). The MB4 won´t sound like a Stingray - there are cheap replacement electronics (that you have to solder yourself, <20 EUR) that will give you the preamp of the original Stingray. The MB4 is passive afaik so you either live with the sound or add a battery compartment etc. You should have a listen to Bonedo tests like: www.bonedo.de/artikel/harley-benton-mb-4mb-5-sbk-deluxe-series-test/Rainer Wind is an absolute beast on bass and I always turn to his videos to evaluate how a bass sounds like. I find his reviews to be quite on point, also for non-HBs that I possess.

I've had a good look at the JB-75 and see its getting great reviews. Thanks for the tip.
Now I'll focuses my choice on that or the JB-20.
Do you happen to know what the main differences are between the two in sound and feel, or is it mainly the vintage styling?
Much appreciated,
