Hi, as a guitarist/bassist in a really sludgy and doomy rock outfit I want the most klank/himids/treble possible from my bass sound to really go well with distortion. So I bought a PB-Shorty and was really pleasantly surprised by the sound and the zing in the strings but at some point I realized that I will need to change strings. I've since tried changing strings to Fender 5250XL and Rotosound RS66S and both sounded like crap, the sound was muddy and too bassy. I realize that most people want a really full sound from their bass but I don't. So I'm very eager to find out what the factory strings are on the PB-Shorty bass to try and find more of them. I've been in contact with HB but they don't seem to know, first they said that it was ALICE A607(4)-M (045-105) which is a generic Chinese string available through Ali Express but it's a long scale string! When I repeated the question, they came back with a new answer, namely the www.thomann.de/de/harley_benton_valuestrings_bassguitar_medium.htm but these are also long scale! The strings on the bass are clearly short scale as they are tapered directly above the nut, they cannot be long scale strings. So if anyone knows what the factory strings are, I'd be extremely grateful. Currently I've paid more for bass strings that I don't like the sound of than the bass itself!
