Hi everyone,
I recently purchased my first 8-String guitar, a Harley Benton R-458 with fan frets. It's quite an interesting guitar! Mine didn't need a neck adjustment, just needed to set the intonation. The fretwork was really smooth actually. Quite impressed. I decided to do a video review if you want to hear it in action:
A couple things to note:
First demo features the guitar through Amplitube 5's Mesa Mark IV amp simulator
Later in the video, I demo the guitar through a real Mesa Stiletto tube amp, mic'd with a Royer R121 ribbon mic.
I've noticed on YouTube, a lot of people say this guitar was wired incorrectly (not quite sure what that's about) so a lot of people use fixing that as an opportunity to upgrade the pickups. I left mine stock though for now and still got a decent tone with a little extra EQ!
I am also a Guitar Center affiliate so for transparency purposes, there is a plug in the video for some of the gear used in my review.

I also bought an SC-1000 with standard pickups (not the EMG edition). Outstanding guitar for the money. Lately I've been quite interested in the TE-62db.... might have to get one of those sometime.
Let me know your thoughts on the r-458mn!
