Hey, forum.
I bought a CST-24 and it's okay except for one niggling issue.
The b string sounds a little dead. Just doesn't sustain as much as the other strings.
Happens regardless of what fret I play (and open too) so I figure it's the bridge. It doesn't happen if I bend the string down (towards the high E string).
Not sure what could be causing it apart from a defective bridge. Any ideas?
As that bit of bridge comes off, can I buy a more reputable replacement.
BTW this happened before and after a string change.

Have you checked the nut ? I'm not sure what I'd be checking for and how. What am I looking out for? But the reason I feel like it's the bridge is that it happens when all notes are fretted.

But the reason I feel like it's the bridge is that it happens when all notes are fretted. That is logical. Just to be certain, do you have a capo and do you get the same problem with it on? If so, I think we can discount the nut. Have you checked the B string groove in the bridge for burs, rough spots or anything that might be dampening the string? Is that part of the bridge properly aligned with the string? The fact that it improves when you bend the string down towards the top string suggests that string is moving away from whatever is fouling it. Either that or the bridge is shifting slightly when you bend the string. (I think the G B string part of the bridge is adjustable so its possible it might move if faulty or isn't tightened fully.)

On closer inspection the post that the bridge wraps around isn't sitting into the body right.
So now I guess I'm sending it back to Germany. CHORE.

Yeah that is the thing. The red arrow is pointing to the post that isn't sitting right.
Thomann support say it can be pushed back in but that isn't working. I had to send a photo and them a video.
Also on closer inspection there are scratches around that area. It's almost like someone took a flat head screwdriver and tried to lift it out once.
I'm hoping Thomann just let me send it back. I've bought a hollow Ibanez to replace it.

I actually ended up swapping out the tuners for some locking ones (I've since replaced them back with the originals as the guitar is now boxed up ready to ship back to Thomann).
According to Thomann/HB, there is a 30 day period where you can return the guitar for a refund. So now I'm sending it back for a 'service' but I've put a note in it saying that I want the bridge fixed and the scratch around that area fixed too or else I want a refund. The thing is, given where the scratch is, it looks as if someone took a flathead screwdriver and dug it under the fixing pin thing and forced it up. That's probably not what happened but I'm telling you, somebody knew the fault was there and signed off on the guitar. Given that you get a little tag with a note saying who serviced it, that's quite shoddy.
As soon as the guitar is fixed and returned, I'm selling it. I found another guitar this week that meets my needs (this is the guitar I take to places hence me going for a hollow one as it is lighter) and is by a company that I trust more now (namely Ibanez).
With all that said, my Harley Benton Tele is probably my favourite guitar. I love that thing. Even if it needed some work initially.

It's not great is it? I know they are cheap but it doesn't cost much for a guy to look them over properly at the end of the manufacturing process. I mean the binding on this thing was a mess too but I wasn't too bothered about that.
I'm having a NIGHTMARE getting it back to them. Neither of the local DHL pick up points would take it today and their label didn't have enough info for me to arrange a pick up from home either. What a chore.
