I bought the awesome 35CH plus a few years back. Works great. But I do see a small black wire just hanging out inside. It looks like it was soldered to something at somepoint. It is still connected to the Neck Volume pot. These are the push/pull pots BTW. I assume it is a ground? However I just removed all the pots and input jack and I could not see any space where it would have been soldered? Is it possible that it goes inside into the pickup?? Do the pickups have a separate ground besides the braided bit?
Thanks for any help. gd

It might be the wire that grounds the bridge to the whole wiring. Check whether there is connectivity between the ground on your jack and the bridge. The wire is usually not soldered but pushed through drilled hole next to the bridge inserts and hold just by being stuck between the wood and the insert. Eventually it could get loose or snap, or could be misplaced form manufacturing.
If you loose other ground wires it usually does not play well an you should notice, this ground wire could cause just more noise and electric buzz.
