Hello all, I am not fluent in English sorry by advance. I would like to buy a Parlor Guitar and my research find 2 Guitars in my short list ! A beautiful CLP 12SM (out of stock but available in a few weeks). Spruce Top A less beautiful CLP 15ME Solid Wood but all massive in Okoumé. Have you ever try these 2 guitars ? What are your opinions ? I like too the epiphone EL00 but it is in third position in my short list Thank you guys for helping.

Thank you oghkhood for your feed back. When I read the reviews of buyers on thomann website, there is some about the "boxy" sound for the clp 15me. The reviews seems to be better for the clp 12sm. I am surprised because I was thinking like you for massive guitars.

Well... you should take in account that any parlour, regardless to its quality, is sounding boxy compared to a dreadnought made with the same process/materials ... that's just the way it is

hello, I just received a clp-15me solid wood. The finish is great and indeed a bit boxy sound...BUT I have the impression that the wood opens up as I play...or my ears gets used to it...for the moment I'm really impressed with this guitar and satisfied...I'll come back in a while to give a more detailed opinion....many thanks for the help....merry Christmas!!!

No it won't open up that fast as it is rather a question of years.
So probably your ears are starting to ear the same things as I started to slowly feel with my CLG-650SM-CE BK SolidWood : the 100% solid construction realy brings a bunch of subttle harmonics at every stage of the gameplay
I said "game changer" earlier

Really interested to know if anyone has done a direct comparison between these two.
They are exactly the same price, so that's not factor.
To me, based on the sound clips on the site, CLP-12SM sounds much better, the sound is a lot richer.
On the other hand, conventional wisdom indicates I should just go for the solid wood, and there might also be recording differences etc.
Unfortunately, I'm not able to find a lot of decent reviews for the CLP-12SM anywhere.
If anyone has tried both, I would love to hear what they thought.
As a side note, I was also a bit interested in the CLG-650SM, looked like a great instrument, but seems like it's not available anymore.

Hello, as promised here is a little feedback after a few days of play. I won't linger on the processing of the order, the delivery, the package and the seriousness of Thomann! In the top ! Concerning the guitar, it is very well finished, neck, frets, varnish, playable string actions, overall adjustment. In terms of sound it's a bit boxy indeed but it's typical of a parlor, with little bass. Note a small 1mm poc on the rear binding... too bad but does not require a return! The tuners are pretty good and hold the chords well...but the strings don't slide very well in the nut. After a few hours of playing, I noticed that the treble strings were finally a little high...the bridge nut was poorly adjusted....higher on the treble side! So I decide to disassemble the strings, sand the nut and adjust the inclination and adjust the action. The head nut is not glued...I like it. I put a little graphite and I put bridge pins made of buffalo horns. Once the strings are reassembled, they no longer hang on the tuning. The action is good and it sounds better with the horn bridge pins. The guitar vibrates, resonates, it's quite astonishing! You can really feel the whole thing being massive....The sound is pretty good...great for blues and fingerpicking. It's round, silky warm....good contrast compared to my Yamaha LL6 ARE with spruce top...mahogany is great! There you go, this guitar requires a little work, but it is well finished and it sounds pretty good. Be careful, this is not a dreadnought! It also projects well and the sound doesn't encompass the player too much...the sound is much better for the spectators.... Amplified, it’s great.
