Ok I just sold my squier strat n practice amp. Got a sc custom on the way any day.I'm still pretty new and never really liked the strat sound or amp.Was real basic amp with no pedal or effects.
I'm into guns roses, nirvana, rock, bon jovi etc.... Budget is only $150. Don't need anything real loud just want some effects. Was thinking of the vyper vip 1 amp with no pedal which has some cool effects built in. Or something else and a ds1 boss pedal? I have no idea what I need.

I would suggest no amp at all for now and get your self a modeling guitar processor like the Digitech RP55 on Thomann or else which is an awesome tool to test all sorts of pedals, amp sims, and the drum machine is sounding great on those things. I have the RP70 (not in sale anymore). You will need some decent stereo headphones to plug into this box and man you will have hours of great time. Like this you will know in time what you prefer and then make a choice on what amp and pedals you prefer to play with.
I had the VOX Valvetronix and man I was disapointed with the sound, I read Line 6 multi fx amp is also bad, the Vyper might be better but not sure ...

Hello thunder92 and welcome to the HB Club As @che suggested you can go the multifx route and no amp. I prefer the amp because I don't really enjoy having the phones on my ears all the time. Also, you can consider Modelling Amps [amps that have fxs on them and different voicings to emulate other brands] and no pedals are really required. So with this in mind I will contribute to your question. If you can find a 2nd hand unit go with either the Fender Mustang II V.2, Roland Cube 40GX or the Peavey Vypyr VIP. The 2nd hand market would be your best bet to find something interesting on our price range. On the other hand, you can go with a Solid State amplifier [no tubes in it] and a pedal: Fender Champion 20 [115 euros]+ Harley Benton Ultimate Drive pedal [30 euros] Randall NB15 [126 euro] + Harley Benton Ultimate Drive [30 euros] And if you search for Solid State amps in the used market, you can also find good bargains. Let us know what you find and we can be more precise about our recommendations.

thunder92 I agree with @che on the Nux MultiFx. It's a good opportunity for you to learn - or at least have a general idea - what each FX do to your sound and practice Tempos with the inbuilt drum looper. It's a cool way of playing with a virtual drummer as well as it forces you to be precise and can also open your imagination.

Che mumbling away ) yeah., it's called GAS! A nasty nasty bug. I thought you were going the stomp box way. EDIT: Since you are talking about drums and loopers, why not take a peek at the NUX Loop core? it's a looper with drums. The prices have come down on it as well. Used to be 109 euros, I'm seing them being sold as cheap as 89 on Ebay.

Yes the Nux Looper is very much on my next to buy list because of the drums but it doesnt have that tempting to have "Drum Fill" I am on the stomp box way I find GAS being more connected with "wanting more than you already have" rather than "wanting what you dont have and need to make music". I see wanting yet another guitar eventhough one has 3-4-5-20 guitars as GASing not if one has only a LP with humbuckers and wanting a Tele or a Strat for tonal variation. Or wanting another distortion pedal and yet one already has 2-3-20 distortion pedals as GASing I would be happy to get one pedal of each FX I use. Or am I kidding myself

But seriously, the loop core looks great and works well from the reviews I've been reading and watching. As for the drum loops and fills, you can always use your computer [EZ Drummer, and other drumming programs] if you're not up to spend a dime on anything that is like the BeatBuddy [that I find to be quite expensive for what it is to be quite honest], given that you also do pc recordings with your guitar. I've seen quite a few local bar players using the PC as a drum track. And it works beautifully.

I found the Cube very wooden box sounding. I've also heard very good things about the Peavey Vypr and was sorely tempted 12 months ago but I just couldn't live with the Batman styling.
