Im trying to figure out how does one use a Looper pedal with a modeling amp it seems impossible! I mean even with all those FX and amp sims on the amp one cant record them on the Looper because the looper is in front of the amp only recording the boring guitar signal Lets say I want just some reverb and slight overdrive for rhythm to create a loop. But then I want distortion and chorus and delay for the solo part and as soon i swich to that on the modeling amp even the recorded Loop part with sound the like the solo part. Hmm .... not good. Unless you know some tips and tricks. Dont tell me I need more pedals infront of the Looper because in that case why use a modeling amp in the first place when SS amp would do. I was looking at the Roland Cube 80GX modeler amp in case you wonder ... (just researching all possibilities)

You are better off using computer software if you want that complexity without a bunch of pedals, or you can use some sort of recording device that allows you to repeat a riff and an amp with an aux input before the preamp. My Line6 solid state with multi-effects is set up for just this and has a "Jam Along" port as they call it which allows me to plug in an MP3 player or playback device and will put it through a separate clean channel before the preamp with all the effects built in so it stays pure.
Personally, now I have a row of effects before my looper and I set my amp to the sound I want for rhythm and then once I lay down the rhythm I switch on the effects to juice up the tone for my melodies. I did this because I personally don't enjoy the solid state sound and I feel it takes away too much of the dynamics for me to sacrifice for the cheaper solution of no effects pedals.
