Hi everybody,
I have a PB-Shorty on the way and I'm planning on changing the pickguard to a black one. I was wondering if someone here knew if the pickguard is the same size as a regular P-bass pickguard. If so, does anyone know where I can buy a cheap matte black PG?
My other option is plastidipping the original PG but I'm not decided on that yet.
Thanks!

Thanks, looks like I'll be painting or plastidipping it in matte black myself then!

To illustrate the difference, the white one is a shorty original, the pearloid one a full size P one.

I have another question for you: Where did you get the black input nut and washer for your MMB-Shorty build? I'm going for all black on my Shorty and that would be a nice detail.

Thanks, If I find some other useful stuff from there it might even justify the shipping costs!

I don't seem to find any conductive paint on their site, got a lead on that per chance?

Afraid not, I prefer copper tape so never checked for that stuff.

Allright, If i used copper tape, would I need to solder a lead to the ground or will the shielding be in contact with the housing of the pot, eliminating the need for a ground wire? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to do this right straight away.

I still use a ground wire when using copper tape, I don't trust the shielding enough to just leave it out. There is no black magic involved in soldering this wire so why leave it out! And you have to solder the other wires as well so making a few more soldering connections should be no problem.

In the past, I have also just used extra copper tape (the thin stuff) to connected one part of the shielding to another, that also works. It is no easier than with a cable, but it is what I had at the time
