My PB-50 has finally arrived! It had obviously been sold before & returned, the original invoice was still in the box, the box was pretty well abused, but the bass itself is perfect, apart from a few very small marks on the end of the headstock. Apart from that, the finish is absolutely flawless, the neck feels fantastic, with a lovely satin finish & the action feels good. It was badly out of tune, but I don't think we can shoot them for that. All I need now is to learn to play it.

Thanks GKon, here are a few piccies. As I said, the finish is fantastic, with a nice burst & the basswood grain doesn't look too bad. The last photo shows the sum total of the damage that made it B stock, I think I can live with that! Brian.

That's a lovely grain on the fingerboard. I'd live with those marks too. Congrats on it finally arriving

Nice bass, enjoy it!! (I'm sure you will) If those scratches are what made it B stock, I think many large retailers should start dropping prices! However, for some weird reason, I feel that I have seen those scratches (or very very similar ones) on a bass that someone received, but I can't remember if they returned it or not But it could just be me going senile, which is highly probable. Now... Sorry, but I have to stray from the topic for a moment... Is that an XJ on the left? But more interestingly, what is on the right? The tank looks Yamaha also (I would have guessed R1 by the tank), but the fairings look BMW inspired, or is that just the weird angle in the photo?

The bike on the left is indeed a 600 Diversion. The bike on the right is a Suzuki SV650 Supertwin race bike, which is for sale by the way. The fingerboard has got really nice grain kodiakblair, the whole guitar is highly impressive. I know I've said it before, but now I actually have this in my hands & inspected it closely, but how do they do it for the price? Quite unbelievable. Brian.

Yep, that body grain is fine. Who needs photoflame alder if that's what basswood looks like. Don't tell me, it IS photoflame alder. It's photflame something, but unless you looked really hard, you would be pushed to tell. There is a "join" at the front, which doesn't quite match the back. I must say, I am so impressed with it for the price, that I couldn't really care less. To be honest, I don't see how they can produce such a nice neck for what I paid for the guitar. It feels lovely, nice satin finish, fret ends are all really nicely finished & not a buzz anywhere.

I I guess the race fairings are what threw me, but I would never have guessed that was a Suzuki tank. Unfortunately, I will not be interested in the purchase of said machine, as I no longer enjoy broken bones I did have an XJ600 for a year or so, great bike, but always sounded as though you were going twice as fast as you actually are Sorry for the derail... back to the scheduled show!

If they didn't photograph a piece with a join in it they'd get away with it. DOH!

I thought I would start & learn something relatively simple that I knew well, so I can now play Pink Floyd's Money. I think I'm going to enjoy this bass playing lark.

Yep, I always think it's best to start with a piece of music in 7/4 then 4/4 and back to 7/4 again. Start with the simple stuff eh mototech?

I thought it was handy enough defjef, maybe its because I don't know enough about time signatures etc. to know it should have been complex.

I had a mate who used to play 'Take Five' in six and never knew. Used to drive me nuts, "Count one less, you freak." I used to cry.
