Maybe somebody knows the answer to this: I have two EMGs (81 & 85) lying around at home and I was wondering if I could put them into a SC-1000 without any problems. EMGs have this easy plug and play system which makes it easy to change the pickups. Does this work with the already installed pickups on the HB or do I have to modify something? In other words, is this a EMG thing or also common with other active pickups? I am usually not the fan of active pus, but the SC-1000 looks nice, is quite cheap and I could put my EMGs to use. So why not?!

You will have to strip out all the pots and install 25k solderless ones provided with the kit and the battery lead
If it were me I would also put in a good quality toggle switch and output jack while I was at it

I don't have the guitar yet. Just thinking about it. Do I really have to change the pots and the electricts, because it already has active pickups from the factory. So it would just be an exchange from one active pickup to another.

If you decide not to change the electronics you will need to cut the wire to the pickups and solder them because it's only EMG that I know of that uses that solder less system

I happen to buy a L-1000 / SC-1000 from a pawn shop for $100. Mint condition. I been playin since I was a kid and now I am 64. I have Les Paul's, Strats, Teles, and etc. I bought this guitar because it had a nice feel. Active pickups were ****ty and so was the electronics. Replaced pickups with Stew mac golden age gold and redid the electronics. Had it professionally set up. With the mods, it is a very nice guitar. Plays better than some of the **** Gibson is putting out now!
