Another great demo by EytschPi42, this time it's the HB TE-70:

6:20 "Wilkinson bridge with three adjustable... thingys" He struggles at times to engage much enthusiasm, and who can blame him in a luxury mancave like that. Feels like Thomann shipped him a free crate of cheap guitars, a company sweatshirt, and told him to just bloody get on with it. BUT I really enjoy this guy's honest presentation style, and bought a TE-70 pretty much on the basis of his video. I can also confirm that the TE-70 does have three thingys. And they are adjustable.

Here's my short review of the TE-70. This is pretty much a copy of a post I made over at TDPRI, but it might be useful for anyone checking out TE-70 facts in this shiny new HB forum I bought the TE-70 rosewood model a couple of weeks ago. Photos of it out the box below. The TE-70 is a lovely looking guitar in person - I wasn't disappointed when I opened the box. The Wilkinson pickups and bridge are excellent, the generic tuners less so (but they work perfectly OK). The rosewood veneer front & back is flawless, but the lacquer finish is rather soft. After after only a few hours of playing, the back has picked up a lot of surface scratches from my shirt buttons. The neck pocket was quite poorly finished as well (see picture). The guitar needed a LOT of work. The nut was poorly cut (too high and very ragged, see picture), frets had been roughly levelled at the factory, but not crowned or polished (see picture - a full level/crown/polish was needed to make playable). I was able to do this work myself, but a tech bill for the work would have been more than the purchase price of the guitar. It now plays really nicely, stays in tune, and the Wilkinson pickups sound great to me (and far better than my old Squire Affinity Tele). But I would have difficulty recommending this model to a beginner, because of the work that was needed to bring it to a playable condition. A brilliant bargain for the enthusiast who doesn't mind whipping out the tools though.

That is a beautiful looking guitar daveb, shame about the neck pocket (and the amount of set up work you had to do, unfortunately HB's do seem to have a QC that is somewhat random, some are excellent out of the box, others need work, but at least you can return them if you are not willing/capable of "getting out the tools").
Thank you for sharing.

I so nearly bought this guitar until this HARLEY BENTON TE-80 NT DELUXE SERIES LTD showed up on thomanns site, I'm a big Beatles fan & that would have been a great Harrison rosewood replica guitar, That's a beautiful guitar & a real pity about the damaged neck pocket, I'm glad you've got it sorted out.

Please make sure to write to Thomann about the issues so they know about it. The more we inform them the more chance there is for them to fix these issues in the factory maybe. Nice guitar!
