Hi there everyone! Just joined the club and I'm really a guitarist who enjoys dabbling in a little bit of bass. I just sold my lovely Traben Phoenix (gorgeous to play, was laughed at constantly when I took it anywhere! Seems people aren't ready for that sort of thing!) and I'm looking for an inexpensive but not cheap garbage 4 string to muck about with (I really mean improve my technique on!)
I was looking at the B-450 ones, especially the nice quilt top for the ridiculous price of £118. Does anyone else have any experience of these? Will they be good for an improver like me... It's not like I'll be playing Wembley any time soon!
Sorry if this has been asked before.
Thanks all!
Martine

I have the b-450 and b-650 they are really nice basses I play more on the b-650 but that mainly because of extra strings. the bass is active and passive witch will give you more options in sound. on my soundcloud that in my signature at the bottom almost all songs are played on the b-650 if you like to hear how it sound in a band setting. It'd a good choice

Never heard of a traben phoenix so I googled it and I think it looks great. If your looking for a normal looking bass the JB75 is great but if I was to recommend my favourite harley benton it had to be the BZ4000. Its a bit more that the rest but in a different league. It looks and sounds great and is pefect straight out of the box the Jazz needed a bit more of a set up as did my MM84. ehat are you looking for from a bass? Most folks on here swear by the pb50 as a no nonsense ridiculous value for money option, its certainly on my GAS list

Thanks chaps. My Traben was awesome but I'm not exactly a 19 year old metal player (double that and into prog and classic rock) and my pals are all into Gary Barlow and Michael Buble so you can see why they took the mick! At least I have taste in music. I'll certainly check out your recommendations! Thank you both!

If anyone laughed at it, I'd just laugh at them.

I actually got mine at 60% off in the sale (clearly not many people were fans) and I sold it for more than I paid for it. I'm sure I'll regret it at some point though and wish I had it back. Maybe when I joint a Prog Metal band!!

The only bad thing about the PB50 is they don't make a lefty version. If they do I would buy one immediately.

When I saw the flamed, chrome bridge and the flame inlays on the fretboard, I was in love and bought it right away. Only the 2nd time I've ever done that with a bass. The first time it happened, that bass had flames on it, too. Can you sense a theme? Sure, the look's not for everyone, but it is for some of us. The one's with good taste!

That's pretty much what I did! Went in for a look and came out with a bass I'd had no intention of buying when I got up that day!! Oh well!
