Does it matter what head phones you use for practice? Was thinking of getting a FX unit and playing thru that while I make my mind up on an amp.

I dont think it matters but sure some headphones might have too much bass while others might be too trebley. This can be remedied with EQ from the FX unit. Then there is the thing about how comfortable the headphones are. Will your ears boil in sweat in the summer time (like my AKG over ear do), etc ...
For practicing it doesnt matter but for recording/monitoring it does matter. This is from my limited experience. Others here might have more to say.

I recommend wearing a bandana over your ears if headphones make them sweaty! Not the sexiest look but sure who cares

LOL I actually take my baby son's cotton diaper and make a bandana for that very reason and it works great in hot weather
