So I am looking for advice, ideas and reccomendations for replicating the acoustic bass guitar sound through the amp. The more I play the HB-30, the more I like it's unplugged tone with bronze strings. The problem is, I can't replicate the sound through a bass amp. If I mic the bass, and run it through the desk, then I can get the exact tone obviously, but that is not very convinient when I am not at home (or at a place with a PA set up). I have played with the settings, but have yet to find the tone in my head (or ears I suppose, as the sound actually exists ). I could buy certain pickups, but if I spend that sort of cash on something for this acoustic bass (it was a very cheap bass!) then I would prefer some kind of "removable" set up that I could put on other basses. Sort of like a clip on mic, but at instrument level (to use with bass amps etc. and not just PA). So, does anyone have any advice or ideas (no matter how crazy) to try and capture this sound??

I put flats on mine, but did very much like the sound with the original phosphor bronze strings.
IMHO pickups always sound different. It might be worth while using a graphic EQ with more bands than the 4 band onboard EQ. But my personal suspicion is that it will always sound different.
