Anyone used this amp? I was looking at pedals in my Thomann wish list plus an interface and this looks like it could save me shed loads of cash and be good for home use. Anybody got this? I know it's a tupperwear box but I'm intrigued.

if you already got a good sounding amp for home use - why not try the Boss GT-1? plenty of pedals & modeling amps to choose from aswell - oh, and you get an expression pedal - all that in a portable form. Friend of mine has the GT-100 and that costs 2x as much and has the same processing power (but minus the included Waza model). It should be awesome for headphone use too. I´m gonna test one out in the next few weeks (if the store has them in stock).

I'm not a big fan of boards lockhardt, I've had a few multis over the years and never found one that suits. I really wanna go the extra amp route and the Vox seems a decent fit. I've got a HB GA5 & a Peavey Rage at the minute but it's the 11 amp sims that I'm looking at. Plus £109 seems a bargain.

Couldn't have put it better DefJef. I get too tied up with settings, that's originally why I got the GA5 over the Mustang, too much going off. In the limited time I get to play I want to play, not program. Thing I like about the Vox is that it's basic. I'm also not a fan of buttons, push this twice, hold for 3 seconds, double tap. Give me a chicken head to turn everytime.

I tried the Vox VT20 and I didn't like the moddeling aspect of it at all. As soon I touch something else I loose what I previously set up. Also had hiss issues which irritated me.
I'm more for a normal interface like the cheap Behringer U-phobia UM2 and then mic the amp or get an amp with line out into interface. My Bugera V5 Infinium has a fine sounding line/phone out for recording.
I'm staying away from the multi effects. They were useful during my learning faze; what sounds and fx I like etc... But now the sound just doesn't satisfy me at all. Too sterile sounding.

I think they sell the hiss as important part of analogue circuitry

Buttons papache, work of the Devil, to me the controls on the VT were like the bridge of the USS Enterprise. Another thing is I'm teaching my 9 year old and I think different amp sims will be good and just turning a knob won't detract her from learning the guitar, not learning the amp.

I'm in both camps. Sometimes I love fiddling with effects and sims and experimenting with exterme combinations or settings. Othertimes I just like to plug in and play and not fumble with power supplies, cables and button pressing. Fumbling with chords rather than cords I guess

That's the beauty of the HB GA5 salteedog warm it up & play. The reason I'm looking at the Vox is so I don't need to rig the power supply & pedals up. Man, we're lazy.

What about the Boss Katana 50? It´s 199€ on Thomann atm, and for a 12" speaker (which should be loud enough since most people in the Katana 100 demo turn it down in 50W mode, lol). I haven´t come across one review which doesn´t say "this is the best amp of 2016". If you don´t need an FX loop or a line out - which the VX II doesn´t have either. 166 pounds is a "tick" more than 109, but having 50W and a 12" speaker - plus a built-in acoustic amp - sound like a pretty good deal to me. I´m hoping they have it at my local store when i finally come around to pay them a visit, so I can give you some insight aswell EDIT: Oh yeah, I nearly forgot - I had the Blackstar ID:Core 40 Stereo (2016) - but it honestly just didn´t sound good at all to me. The 2 gain channels are really weird - you either get absolutely FULL volume or nothing, it just feels extremely fake. The Crunch & Supercrunch channel are too gainy for my liking and the ISP switch doesn´t change as much as you´d think - I prefer a classic 3 band EQ. At least it did reverb well (thanks to the stereo setup).

Cheers for the one lockhardt, that's a contender. The power soak is a plus.

You're right lockhardt . Those supergain channels are virtually useless especially because of that noise gate. The stereo effects are often good but I rerely go further than crunch and even then would prefer to use a warm clean with a bit of gain. Never used any pedals in front of it but suspect it would be a disaster If I remember right, you can change noise gate settings with Insider software, did you try changing settings/turning it off? Might be bit more useable that way. I bought Core 20 couple of weeks ago, haven't really got any issues so far, it is still working (I know that power supply often dies, seems like it is really cheap one). Haven't tested it with pedals yet (because I got none ), but I will ask my friend to test the amp with his pedal and guitar.
